Over the years, the companies have deployed an arsenal of schemes in an attempt to outmanoeuvre the competition, whether it be stealing ideas, poaching employees, planting spies, ripping off characters or launching price wars. Sometimes the feud has been vicious, at other times, more cordial. But it has never completely disappeared, and it simmers on a low boil to this day.

For anyone with a mild interest of comic books this book is a great revelation. Packed full of the back story to the two behemoths of the comic book superhero industry and their rivalry.

Both companies have had their far share of ups and downs and this audiobook chronicles all their respective highs and lows, artistically and financially. Loads of anecdotes from all the main protagonists involved, Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Carmine Infantino, Julius Schwartz, Jeanette Kahn, Steve Ditko, Bob Kane and many many others.

Right from both comics companies early days in the 30’s/40’s right through to the modern era and their cinematic and TV are all covered.

I’m more knowledgeable about both companies back stories now having checked out ‘Slugfest’.

Tour Manager and friend Johnny Green’s rip-roaring account from inside The Clash camp as they turned passion and guitars into songs that electrified a generation. An intimate and very funny listen.

For an ‘I was there as it happened’ account the audiobook is great. Phil Daniels narration is excellent too.

Lots of ‘behind the scenes’ stories covering Johnny Green and Garry Barkers’ time and exploits a roadies to The Clash. If you’re interested in The Clash and the back stories to recording ‘Give ‘Em Enough Rope’ and ‘London Calling’ plus the subsequent tours and gigs you’ll be enthralled.

The format is unique. The biography part and the recollections by David Lynch himself. Funny, moving and a heap of insight into Lynchs life, His breadth of work is too vast to try and encapsulate in a single volume, It conveys more about the mood and approach of Lynch who despite being a master of dark portrayals of strange other dimensions as a person is a very uplifting and inspiring guy to work with. If you're a Lynch fan you'll dig it. If you're looking for an introduction or more background check out this audio book.

A fine addition to the Night Vale universe, although it can also be enjoyed as a stand alone. Lots of plot twists and unexpected incidents as religion and science meet head on, and of course a whole bunch of the darkest humour too.

Cecil Baldwin’s narrative is top notch as ever and he brings all the various characters to life with his dependable rock solid delivery.

The Secret History of Twin Peaks enlarges the world of the original series, placing the unexplained phenomena that unfolded there into a vastly layered, wide-ranging history, beginning with the journals of Lewis and Clark and ending with the shocking events that closed the finale. The perfect way to get in the mood for the upcoming Showtime series.

I do not usually bother with reviews but as this is the third time I've completed the Secret History Of Twin Peaks I must say it really does add depth and intrigue into the whole Twin Peaks universe.

So many bizarre coincidences and occurrences to mull over and consider, going way way back into American history for the most tenuous of possible links, that somehow all lead to that one location 'Twin Peaks'. You can either absorb and enjoy the narrative or get totally confused, nothing is cut and dry and it's down to the individual to interrupt the information.
