In Willing to Believe, R. C. Sproul uncovers issues that provoked the Reformation and revived the controversy between Pelagius and Augustine. He carefully explores the relationship between original sin and human free will, clarifies misconceptions about the work of God in a believer's liberation from sin, illuminates the work of the Holy Spirit in salvation, and offers compelling reasons to believe the work of salvation is in God's hands.

As I am a confessed devotee of RC his explanations of the reformed position are accessible if not complex. I think another listen and some careful thought is needed this does not detract from the material giving wise council and a detailed understanding of this vital subject that is at the heart of the Glory due to God so often confused and dare I say it missed.

How can an unholy people stand before a holy God? Who is God, and what is his relationship to his creation? And how can we know him? In Exodus 3, Moses saw a bush that was burning yet was not consumed by the flames. When he turned to look at it, God gave him one of the most profound theology lessons recorded in the Bible. There, God revealed himself in a remarkable way, and as Dr. R.C. Sproul writes, "His revelation in the burning bush continues to have relevance for Christians today."

Becoming a highly spiritual Christian needs to be the goal of every believer. Love in itself is an action. The believer, through love should be fervently seeking the Lord night and day to grow nearer to Him. As it is written, "Do not be deceived: Evil company corrupts good habits." 1 Cor. 15:33

In this revision of a foundational work, John Piper reveals how grace is not only God’s undeserved gift to us in the past, but also God’s power to make good happen for us today, tomorrow, and forever. True life for the follower of Jesus really is a moment-by-moment trust that God is dependable and fulfills his promises. This is living by faith in future grace, which provides God's mercy, provision, and wisdom - everything we need - to accomplish his good plans for us. In Future Grace, chapter by chapter - one for each day of the month - Piper reveals how cherishing the promises of God helps break the power of persistent sin issues.

The characterisation left you with plenty to deal with the main characters hatred love jealousy and atheism. Not an easy book to listen to for the afore mentioned reasons. Firths performance is very special he has the most believable accents and ability to create the book Characters persona to the listening reader. I shall look out for more by him.

The subtitle of this work, "Defeating Sin with Superior Pleasure", says it all. There is godly pleasure in applying the faith that first saved us in everyday circumstances, defeating the unbelief and lies that Satan throws at us. Fighting those lies, and the resultant anxiety, pride, impatience, and other sinful attitudes that trip us up, with what Piper calls "the purifying power of God's truth", blesses us with peace as we see God enabling us to live by faith in his promises and his grace.

Do work that matters. Productivity isn't just about getting more things done. It's about getting the right things done - the things that count, make a difference, and move the world forward. In our current era of massive overload, this is harder than ever before. So how do you get more of the right things done without confusing mere activity for actual productivity? When we take God's purposes into account, a revolutionary insight emerges. Surprisingly, we see that the way to be productive is to put others first.

We are called to a life of holiness. But, as any Christian can attest, the transformation from sinner to saint is rarely drastic or immediate. More often, it is a gradual process, found in the daily interactions of a spiritually-nourished heart. In Holiness: Day by Day, Jerry Bridges offers that nourishment in the form of concise daily devotionals. With conversational style and God-centered focus, Bridges provides practical, encouraging insight, pointing us towards the One who, alone, is holy.

"Be holy, for I am holy," commands God to His people. But holiness is something that is often missed in the Christian's daily life. According to Jerry Bridges, that's because we're not exactly sure what our part in holiness is. In The Pursuit of Holiness, he helps us see clearly just what we should rely on God to do-and what we should accept responsibility for ourselves.
