This is an incredible listen about an incredible man who "put it all on the line" against the evil that was Nazi Germany. Readtrepreneur Publishing published the story in a manner that puts the listener right along Bonhoeffer as he moves from theologian scholar to an "all in" opponent to Hitler and his sycophants. To have the courage and commitment that he proved in his day to day activities was incredible for a human being as young as he was. I can't help but wonder what his influence would have been had he lived into old age. It is my opinion that Jesus, Luther, Ghandi and Bonhoeffer were the most influential of people of the ages. Readtrepreneur Publisher has done an incredible job of telling the story of a very powerful life. This book is not for just Lutherans, it is a tremendous asset to ANYONE of any faith. Buy it listen it, study it preach it!!

I listen the entire book over 3 or 4 evenings. Hard to stop listening. This is probably the first book I have listen from cover to cover in the past 20 years. However,I don't believe it really deserves all the hype it has gotten, particularly on Fox channel; maybe it should be more of a 4 star or 4 1/2 stars. I do wish he would have covered a little of the U.S. submarine effort in the war against Japan. For all the credit they have received, they are A.W.O.L in this book.

Great book. Many commenters reference the "audience" it is intended for. In short it seems to be drafted for a listener of high school education, but also does a superb job of pulling many disparate (and sometimes different) stoic views from different philosophers, and speaks to an interpretation thereof.

You can listen to a whole book. In search of knowledge, you'll be more likely bombarded with a barrage of confusion. Everyone is telling you what to think and how to think. The beauty of quotes is that quotes gives you the space for exploration. Every single wise quote has no meaning, except for the one that you give it. There is no context, except to that of the reader (you).

Psychology Today says that “babies who are not held and nuzzled and hugged enough will literally stop growing - and if the situation lasts long enough, even if they are receiving proper nutrition - die.” Isn’t that fascinating? What’s truly fascinating is the perception that we people have on “love” today. Love is not just sex, even though it might involve that. Love is not all about touches and hugs, even though it might involve that. Love is an emotion. Sugar when not used, becomes fats. Energy when not used, dies out. Love when not used, diminishes.
