Josh Malerman’s debut novel, ‘Bird box’ was one of my favourite books of the last several years - unexpected, chilling, and gripping.

This, his second novel, is just a hot mess of a story. Very disappointed. I was expecting so much more. Avoid.

I desperately wanted to like this book, but alas, this, the second novel from Paula Hawkins, is sorely missing a decent plot. There is no suspense and no drama. The characters (of which there are many) are unsympathetic, and forgettable. A shame, because I loved 'Girl on the Train' and was hoping for something equally as memorable. This book is not that.

Predictable and uninspired plot, the main character is unsympathetic and irritating, and the story is unnecessarily long. The narrator did a reasonable job with poor material.
