While I'm a fan of Brian Cox, this is 4 seasons of the radio show that is FREELY available on podcast sites, and not just these episodes but all seasons!

After I (stupidly) wasted a credit on this, I looked for more and found virtually every episode available on several podcast sites.

So, please don't waste your money on this, instead install a podcast app and look for the episodes, as it'll save you money/a credit, and you'll get a lot more for no money!!!

When I found out this was read by Amy I just HAD to buy it - I've loved her for years, from her time on SNL, Parks & Rec and her film appearances, she has always made me smile

Her method of narrating the book is how you can imagine her just chatting to you and telling you a story or ten, she's funny, light, laughing at bits as though she's remembering it as she's talking, it just draws you in and pulls you along for the ride

This is a great book for fans of Amy, and if you don't know her, it's still a fun book for the stories - I can't recommend this book highly enough, if you want a bit of history of a brilliant comedian and all of her journeys, then don't hesitate to get this

I looked at a whole load of French audio books to help me learn more of the language and this was one, and the idea is almost a direct rip-off of a tape I got over 15 years ago called "Rapanese" (learning Japanese with music in the background), but the worst thing about these is that you get just over an hour for 1 credit or £13, which if you take out the music only parts & the gaps, you end up with about 45 minutes, which is REALLY bad value

If they did the entire set of 3 (around 3 hours of audio) for 1 credit or £15 then I'd be happier, but this price is just a rip-off!

The pricing isn't set by Audible, so they have no control over the extortionate price, especially considering you can get the CDs for around £5 each, meaning that buying through Audible isn't something I'd recommend

Overall, if you have a spare credit, get the combined Volume 1 & 2 package, but DO NOT buy this one unless you want to throw your money away

I feel that this book is the weakest in the series so far, and to stretch into a whole book something that could have been a short story, and rather like other series (like the Dresden Files or Iron Druid) that have a book of side stories, it could have been a compendium - this story just felt dragged out, and overly long, covering things that just didn't need to be there

This is a complete departure from the formula that made the first 2 books so enjoyable, with only one member of MHI, although the oldest & strongest, and being used to introduce new members of the company & upcoming important cast

Certain parts of the story were rather obvious, and telegraphed chapters before they happened, but without Oliver Wyman's reading this would have been nowhere near as enjoyable

If this wasn't "required reading" for the next book, I'd suggest skipping this one, but you need to know several things that happen in this story, several characters, and what happens along the way, or parts of the following book kind of makes no sense

When you find a great series, you want to dig your teeth into it - the world that Larry Correia has created in these is brilliant, it's so close to the real world that it could very well exist without us knowing, add in the amazing reading by Oliver Wyman, this series just becomes astounding

The main characters are great, realistic, and are fun to learn about, along with the stories in the series being engaging - while listening the books I've broken out into grins, laughter & quite often lost in the story and almost missing my train station

With the story moving on a-pace, great characters like Franks, the superb team that support Owen the monster hunting accountant, and when you hear them being portrayed in the audio book, you can see them in your mind, and I've already cast a film (e.g. Margot Robbie for Holly), this only makes the books better & more enjoyable

If you want a really well written series, that is incredibly read, then you can't go far wrong with this book & the series - I've spread these books to friends who have spread them to family & it's gone from there, all from me finding one on here... you couldn't do that if the book & series weren't great!

Download, listen & enjoy - this series is brilliant and I can't wait for more!!!

I have always loved Danny on screen & radio, with the only exception being when he gets too into football (as I'm not a soccer fan) - he's charismatic, funny and completely engaging, especially if you're an 80s kid

The book is funny to hear for someone who grew up in London around the same time Danny did (about 5-10 years after), adding in the history of Danny's past, stories of stars that he met along the way & how he evolved into the man he is today

If you know Danny & the 80s & 90s, this book is all kinds of awesome - although it meanders around a little, it's almost like a stream of consciousness, which is pretty much how Danny tells stories

While the idea behind this universe is interesting, and the main character is slightly off-centre, there are certain parts of the story that make me think that the author is a little bit desperate...

The fact that women seem to fall at his feet, all he as to do is look at them and their knickers fall to the floor, it's almost like the author is so sexually frustrated that he can't write porn (or 50 Shades), so has his main character have every woman fall in love with him as soon as they look at him, this includes a 16 year old teenager, a redhead he meets outside a building (who says she wants to go slowly and then immediately sleeps with him), and a mob boss' daughter!

While the overall scenario of the book is interesting, although I had to roll my eyes a few times, but I like the way we get flashbacks to show how he got to know certain things & people, especially the way they "slow burn" so it takes a while to make sense of the flashback

Overall, the idea is good, although the whole concept of the main character being a "superman" who is the most desirable man ever seems a little stretched

I'm starting this by not talking about the book, but about my reaction to it - I got this as it was suggested from other books I had seen, so thought I'd pick it up and give it a try... BOY was I surprised!
It's one of those books that I had to talk about it to friends, and not only has a friend at work picked up the series, but his mother has now read the entire series - it's one of those infectious series that as soon as you start, you can't stop going through them

The book itself is funny, smart, has good pace & is well written, but the narration suits the style amazingly well, the characterisation is superbly done, with accent switching being seamless and pacing of the reading fitting the action brilliantly

As with all narrators, each has their own odd pronunciation, and Oliver Wyman is no exception, something that rather than distracting, it made me smile because of the bad grammar of the word use - the book talks about someone being close to crying, so they "tear up", but instead of it being pronounced as "teer", it's pronounced "tare", as in as though something is torn

Overall though, this book is a high recommendation from me, if you like the type of fantasy books set in the current era, this series is great, going over government cover-ups, the company, old gods and much more - once I had this book I HAD to start on the others

Listen, enjoy & smile

I had never heard of Kim Harrison, but from a recommendation I thought I'd give it a try with a "spare" credit, and boy was I surprised... the story is compelling, funny & imaginative, not to mention that the book is well read

Before this I had never heard anything ready by Marguerite, she's charming, engaging & has a good voice for this style of book - after hearing the first few chapters I did a little research on her and quite often she's rated as one of the best narrators, and it's understandable why - not only does she dramatically change her voice per character, but she also adds personality to what is being said

I've noticed something about most of the narrators on this site, each has a little quirk about their pronunciation - some say a few words wrong, some say one or two, some get annoying when they mis-pronounce words, some are just frustrating (why can't someone say the word "lived" properly???), but Marguerite only has a couple of minor ones which aren't that much impact, so it doesn't grate as much as others have

Overall, this book is great, it's well written, well read and is a new series that I'm picking up!

Reminds me of why I hate Stephen King...

Overall

I have always been bored to death by Stephen King's books - they have a "formula" of the first half being INCREDIBLY slow and having far too much detail of completely irrelevant things, and then the second half is where they pick up, until the end is usually a little insane (see "It" for a classic example of this), but as I absolutely love the TV show of Under The Dome I thought I'd give this a chance, but I had to give up around 5 hours in

The first part of this book DRAGS - it took an hour just for the dome to come down, and then by hour 5 we're still within the first few hours of the dome landing, and since it's a 33 hour book, how much is left for the ACTUAL story

Add in the changes (for the better) to the TV show, and the only similarities are the name of the town, the dome, and the names of the characters - it's almost like the TV show saw the original concept of the book and took the barest parts of it, which is a GREAT thing, because this book's start is just terrible, the main characters are all obnoxious, too many of the characters seem to be insane, and the dome itself it pretty much only a thin piece of unbreakable glass

If you love the TV series then leave this thing alone, because King's writing must be an acquired taste, as long as you like being bored for hours before the story just picks up, not to mention spending ages on a character, describing everything about their life, then suddenly they die

The best thing about this book is the performance, but I feel sorry for him having to trawl through the dross at the start before it gets any headway!!!
