On the shocking discovery of a passenger's body on the Great Western Railway excursion train, Detective Inspector Robert Colbeck and his assistant, Sergeant Victor Leeming, are dispatched to the scene. Faced with what initially appears to be a motiveless murder, Colbeck is intrigued by the murder weapon - a noose. When it emerges that the victim had worked as a public executioner, Colbeck realises that this must be intrinsically linked to the killer's choice of weapon.

Childish rubbish badly narrated. If I could give it less stars I would. Not recommended for serious readers.

Appearances can be deceptive; but the truth is a dangerous thing.... On the night Brian Bishop murdered his wife he was sixty miles away, asleep in bed at the time. At least that's the way it looks to Detective Superintendent Roy Grace, who is called in to investigate the kinky slaying of beautiful socialite, Katie Bishop. Roy Grace soon starts coming to the conclusion that Bishop has performed the apparently impossible feat of being in two places at once.

Dissapointing as the twist is obvious from an early stage. I had hoped I would be proved wrong and that the writer had something clever up his sleeve. The sub-plot comes to no conclusion at all.
