ok, I enjoyed the story premise from book 1, this encouraged me to listen to book 2, book 3 was a bit of a damp squib.
how did I feel at the end?
answer: "meh!" which sums it up for me. lots of potential culminating in relatively bland ending.

I nearly didn't bother with this but ended up thoroughly enjoying it.
good under-dog story where intelligence beats op enemies.
next in series does not appear to be on Amazon, this is annoying as this type of thing has happened before with a audible book series.
if Amazon cant get the rights for an entire audible book series by an author they shouldn't sell the one or two books they do have because it just pissed me off, it's not as if the books are cheap to buy.

decent twist on mmorpg , good listen overall. a clever twist for the character back story near the end. hopefully book 2 delivers?

I have percivered with this and as the storyline evolves it does draw you in. Some weird twists especially when central character wants to get it on with female centaur, how the hell is that possible unless your into humping horses. I have to admit this is where he lost me, why? Male female or same sex I get but this makes buggerall sense anatomically unless you have some sort of bestiality fetish ? I think this development was a poor choice and will probably lose listeners. It's a real shame as the central premise of a gamer in a fully immersive mmorpg is popular in general. Jury is out on whether to follow, I will leave that up to individuals

the 1st book I found difficult to get into and reviewed accordingly, critically commenting on weak background start and almost immediate submerging into long mmorpg gaming stat narrative which made it difficult to empathise with the characters. this second book kept me interested and although still essentially a game walk through there are hints that there might be more to this than that. if your not a gamer you wont like this story but I am going to keep listening, hopefully it improves from book to book

Very short intro which begins in a random mmorpg game, very thin back story overwhelmed by long player stats recital. just sounds like "any gamer" boring narration of player stats. this made identifying with the characters difficult, almost binned it at that point but decided to percivere and give it a chance. the story picks up a bit when the new mmorpg game central to the story begins and the tale begins to form around what is the central character BUT, just as the story looks like it's going somewhere it abruptly stops in a "dungeon" . No well thought out cliffhanger it just comes to a naff point where the author seemingly randomly decided: " ok, that's book 1 done!"
I know this seems like a fairly damaging review but it is what it is!
I am going to listen to book 2 to see if it improves then decide whether or not to continue the series, I am a fan of this genre so will try and give it a chance in the hope that the story warms up and becomes more engaging?

the most unlikely of character choices as the hero in an mmorpg world. This actually helps to draw in the listener. Looking forward to book 2 when released.

after getting hooked on the 1st book, I was a bit worried that the author might focus too much on main characters without developing others in the story but no fear as this doesnt happen, I have become more engaged in this world as each new & old character is fleshed out with their own back story and personality. Rugrat is a loveable redneck while Eric is the more stable guiding force on this pair's journey through the realms, always maintaining their strong battlefield bond ,moral code and ethics, a real couple of likeable heroes.
