Thanks to a godly decree and a crafty clause, Jackson has been banished from his home. And the only universe kindly enough to take him in is one infested with comic-book-style superheroes and supervillains.

The narration is on point. The tropes are once again scrutinised and filltered through parody. This is a good sequel I can't wait to read the next book then no doubt listen to it.

Under the streets of London there's a world most people could never even dream of: a city of monsters and saints, murderers and angels, and pale girls in black velvet. Richard Mayhew is a young businessman who is about to find out more than he bargained for about this other London. A single act of kindness catapults him out of his safe and predictable life and into a world that is at once eerily familiar and yet utterly bizarre.

I loved it it should be said that my girlfriend also loved it she did however think it was quite long. For my part I felt the complexity of the story warrented the length. For a review it is only fair i give her side of the story.

I seen this in my recommendations in my kindle store. It kept appearing finally I thought why not and I was not disappointed in fact it introduced me to litrpgs I since got this audio version and I am now a patron of the author.

So about the book

It's about the rise of a weak character to a killing machine in essence. Old trope sure but with a few twists. There is sex, greed, manipulation, deception, sexisism and murder however as the main character is asexual and amoral these are done by side and minor characters allowing for a completely different way of telling these types of stories.
This performance is well done in my opinion as said above I read it first and when I heard the male voice voicing the female characters for the first 5 min I was dubious, Jeff hays however has enough vocal range to carry the performance.
The stats spoken is the only bad thing I have the type of mind that doesn't mind that however I know this isn't everyone's "cup of tea" and those sections do lend themselves to the kindle version also the audio does give the option to skip them through the chapters menu so win win as long as you aren't in bed.
I hope the few that are still reading will get this book and enjoy it as much as I did the author is still writing and finished book 3 not that ago the story gets better and better.

As with the 1-4 books Bill doesn't seem to grow much as a person, this time he is contrasted with another who doesn't change. This may sway some to the unchanging nature of Bill. I still would have liked to have seen him change and that is why I held bad that final fifth star on story. I still greatly enjoyed these books and read other books by the author. I felt the series had a satisfying pay off with one small exception which I won't spoil and that isn't a criticism more of a please Mr Fetherof one more hit I need one more and you know about who.

There are reasons we fear the dark. Bill Ryder...isn't one of them. Gamer, geek, and legendary vampire - The Tome of Bill is the tale of an unlikely hero trying to survive in a world of undead horrors. Despite awesome supernatural powers, loyal allies, and an attitude the size of Brooklyn, the odds are still stacked heavily against him. As I said only one criticism the main character did not develop much however characters around him did. To some (I think including the author) this would be a good thing. I would personally have liked to have seen him develop more, I can't stress this enough however I feel this was a design choice by the author.

Love all the authors work. The little easter eggs left from previous work will make returning fans smile. New fans can enjoy a story that sounds whimisical to explain to others if only describing the story yet profound and dark if describing the elements. I would recommend this and all the authors works.
