I loved the whole series. It was so refreshing not having to listen to an author who is so blinded by his or her beliefs about health and nutrition or trying to sell you the latest fad. The lads arm you with some facts and let you make up your mind based on the latest science.

Over the years i have listened to audiobooks making the arguments from all sides. Meat is bad, cut out dairy, avoid grains, juice, don’t juice... haha, i’d be as well sewing up my mouth and be done with it. What I have gained though is knowledge from all these camps and somehow managed to keep an open mind that they are all right to some degree, just blinded by their passion and tunnel vision... and in a few cases greed.

My passion and reason for listening to all these books is that I am completely amazed by the human body. My knowledge of how it ‘really’ works grows with every book I read or listen too. I’ve been healthy all my life, never spent a day in a hospital but last year was diagnosed with Psoriasis which has progressed to being severe. It covers my entire body and apart from being so time consuming to manage, has many health and psychological impacts. This has led me to studying the gut and the microbiome. My life from here on is looking forward to treating the symptoms of Psoriasis without ever tackling the source. With all this knowledge i’ve gained (haha, i’m no expert of course) i’m convinced it lies in the gut and that’s where i’ll continue to focus.

So as the title suggests, if you want to learn about gut health, this is the perfect place to start. Lots of ideas and knowledge condensed into short bursts and delivered in a friendly and entertaining manner.

Well done boys, hope you continue the series.

Millions of people suffer from autoimmunity whether they know it or not. The root cause of most weight gain, brain and mood problems, and fatigue, autoimmunity can take years - or even decades - for symptoms and a clear diagnosis to arise. Through years of research, Dr. Tom O'Bryan has discovered that autoimmunity is actually a spectrum, and many people experiencing general malaise are already on it.

As a recent sufferer of severe Psoriasis I am scouring all the literature I can to try and heal the condition from within as opposed to managing symptoms for the rest of my life and to avoid if I can the need for seriously powerful immunosuppressant drugs that come with their own host of issues.

This audiobook is an obvious choice given its name. The content is good and I learned a lot that I can take on board about the immune system, the gut and inflammation but unfortunately it’s no magic bullet. Whilst I believe the authors plan will have a significant effect, I don’t think it’s sustainable for the every day person with a life to lead given the lengths you would need to go to...perhaps if I don’t make any progress on my own it might be a last resort!!

The content, as with many of these books is aimed at the American people but it’s not a major issue. Other than brands etc... it’s mostly relevant everywhere. There are a few shameless website advertisements but the author never tries to sell you anything so that’s a plus. Overall though, it was just a difficult listen but I persevered to the end and I’m glad I did as I gained more knowledge of what’s going on inside and took away a lot of points to explore. The author is passionate about his topic and gives gluten a real hammering, probably rightly so...

In the last episode in the series, Tim and Giles find out how they can both physically change how they eat in order to improve their gut health and overall wellbeing. Giles meets British food writer and historian Bee Wilson, the author of First Bite: How We Learn To Eat. How can repeated exposure to certain foods change our tastes? We also hear from BJ Fogg who runs the behavioural change lab at Stanford University on how to establish new eating habits. How has Tim transformed his gut over the course of the series?

Would you consider the audio edition of Entrepreneur Revolution to be better than the print version?

I haven't read the print version but given that this is a book I think I'll get more from by listening to again and again, the audio version definitely takes the prize.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Entrepreneur Revolution?

There were a few but each of them delivered the same effect, to take my self doubting and replace it with the motivation to get out there and make my mark on the world.

What does Glen McCready bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

I must admit at first, Glen wasn't setting my mind on fire but as the book progressed I got into tune with the calm and professional tone to his voice. I'll have no problems listening again.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

As before, there a few moments where I had eureka moments that had the hairs on the back of my neck standing on end as my idea evolved into something greater. I am about to listen again as I genuinely do believe there will be further moments like these as I progress through the book again.

Any additional comments?

If you have an idea, no matter how small or how unlikely you think it is to succeed, this book takes that seed and gives you the belief that you can do something with it. Listening to the book gave me ideas to tweak and develop my product to make it more viable. I don't think I've found the missing ingredient as yet 😀 My initial thoughts were that the ingredient was me and my willingness to make this work but that seems a bit too obvious, maybe on the next listen!!

Where does Quantum Memory rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Definitely in the top 5 books i've listened to. Truly amazing.

What other book might you compare Quantum Memory to, and why?

I listen to a lot of teaching books on subjects from Time Management, Stock Markets, Business Start-up, Nutritional etc... but this book has by far had the biggest impact in teaching me a new skill. In essence i'm learning how to learn!!

What does Dominic O'Brien bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

I think both the audible and handbook that go with this audiobook is the optimal way to learn. Actually hearing Dominic relay the book i feel gave it an edge that simply reading it would not. Dominic himself came across very well.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Again, at the expense of repeating myself, i was amazed, astonished even, at how simple these techniques were. It will take me a bit longer to start chucking out a memorised number of 100 digits as a party trick but I definitely feel I am well on my way and will achieve this really soon.

Any additional comments?

I totally agree with Dominic's viewpoint. These techniques should be taught at a young age. Although kids minds are like little sponges already, learning these systems would definitely set them up for later life.

I am studying for a NEBOSH Diploma in Health and Safety at present and this book has been so far invaluable in learning all sorts of mnemonic's and acronyms.

Seriously, if it's just for fun, for assistance in studying or just trying to keep your mind young and fit then you wont regret this.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I am in the early stages of starting up a new business. I plan to do this firstly in conjunction with my full time job so I really needed something to help manage my time better. Procrastination has always been a weakness of mine but this book has really inspired and motivated me and is already saving me lots of time and helping me to achieve more on a daily basis.

There is a lot of repetition in the book but it's well known that in order for an idea to stick it must be repeated at least three times. Brian Tracy achieves this well without making the book boring.

I enjoyed this book so much that I have purchased another two from Brian Tracy's Made Simple series. So if your looking to start a business or simply want to achieve more in your work and personal life, I couldn't recommend this more.

What about Brian Tracy’s performance did you like?

Brian Tracy narrates so naturally. He loves what he does and it comes across in bucket loads. Very easy to listen to.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

It is such a wonderful listen. Set in Babylonian times, this book teaches the laws of money that are as much applicable today as they were back then.

It is a collection of stories of how to rid yourself of debt and to amass savings at the same itime. For what should be such a dull topic, the use of language and parables makes the entire book such a fantastic listen.

If you have debt and are looking for some help or you simply want to save more for the future then the laws in this book should work for you.

What did you like best about this story?

How each law is explained using parables that really make them accessible to all. As you listen you can really visualise the characters and setting.

What about Grover Gardner’s performance did you like?

Grover is easily my favourite narrator and he is perfect for this book. He captures the characters and language flawlessly and really leaves you wanting more.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I experienced several moments where the penny dropped in my head and I could relate the laws to help me save for my future. There are many, many simple lessons to be learned that could really have a massive impact on your life.

Any additional comments?

I've listened to this book 5 times now. It is so easy to listen to. Hard to believe that a subject so important is actually so enjoyable to listen to time and time again.

What made the experience of listening to Why We Get Fat the most enjoyable?

For me, a 5'5" male, my life has been spent around the 14-16st mark. I can't remember the last time I wasn't on some sort of eating/exercise plan, my life has been dedicated to it. I've tried them all and stuck to them rigidly and most have been successful in losing me 2st here and there but when it came to keeping it off then that's where the real problems lay.

Eventually I got it into my head that only a sensible, varied and healthy diet would work for me as a way to gradually over the space of a couple of years lose the weight. Unfortunately this too did not work. Something just wasn't adding up. I went to the docs to have my thyroid checked, results came back normal.

Now I'm not one for giving into anything but as far as losing and keeping off the extra 4-5st I'm carrying, I felt it was a pipe dream. I prayed for an answer and the next day this book popped up as a suggestion in my Audible account so I thought why not!

Along with trying all the diets I've ever been on, including Atkins, I have also read numerous books and even college courses on nutrition and exercise and have a pretty good knowledge of what constitutes a healthy lifestyle but this book takes all that mainstream knowledge and blows it out of the water, however, things make complete sense to me now. I mentioned I had already tried Atkins which obviously failed in the past but the big difference now is that I understand the science behind it and trust me, it makes a huge difference.

Apologies for the long, self-indulgent intro. I'm simply trying to capture anyone reading this who is in the same situation. If you genuinely feel you have tried to lose weight, you've explored all the emotional and physical aspects and they don't apply, but no matter how hard you try to follow dietary advice it doesn't work then I definitely feel this could be your answer. It might not actually be your fault after all!

Bottom line is that carbohydrates, especially sugars, are responsible for why a lot of us are so fat, well technically it's our hormones ability to regulate and distribute them. And don't even get me started on the claimed health benefits, if even half of them are true the medical establishment should be hugely ashamed of their ignorance on this subject.

Don't get me wrong, for those who think "yeah, that's me" it means making a choice, what do I want more, sugary and starchy foods or to be thin and healthy? For me, I crossed that line long ago. I've started out with minimum carbs, <20g per day. It's been 3 weeks and I've shifted 11bs and dropped almost two shirt sizes, I'm eating more than I have in a long time and genuinely feel good. The reason I know I will keep this going is I now look at food completely differently and it's all thanks to this book. I finally have the answers I have been looking for.

I'm now on another book, living low carb by Jonny Bowden, which is a great follow up to this book. Once completed I'll review this too.

Seriously, I really hope this book could be the answer you have been looking for too.

Good But Could Be Fantastic

Overall
3 out of 5 stars

Reviewed: 07-01-13

Hi folks,

Well the product needs no introduction. It's the word of God after all.

I have been listening to this consitently and love the change in character voices rather than one monotonous voice all the way through. There is however a lot of background noises for effect like running water or crowds murmuring as the characters speak. This was really distracting at first as I couldn't concentrate on the actual word but after half an hour or so I got used to it and could filter it out.

My biggest gripe, and it really is a shame cause there has been a lot of work been put into this, is the chapters and books are not separated on the audio. In other words if you wanted to skip tracks to Chapter 12 in Genesis from Chapter 1, you can't simply select the next track to 2, 3, 4, 5..... and so on. Instead it's a laborious task of searching using fast forward which is not practical.

However, if your intention is to simply listen to the audio systematically and not use it for study purposes then i can highly recommend it. If like me you are studying and want to hear specific books or chapters then it's really not properly set up for this. There is a way around it involving taking the audio and splitting it up manually but this takes me around 90mins per book and with 66 books that's a lot of time investment.

Hope this helps anyone considering the purchase.

God Bless

Michael
