I read the book a few years ago and enjoyed it. Decided to revisit it again on audible while in holiday. I find the choice of narrator bizarre...very effeminate sounding and melodramatic. It's a tale about hardened gangsters read like a children's story. Deserves a do-over.

Truly fascinating story and worth the purchase (or credit) but needed a different narrator. The monotone delivery was grating and often served to undermine the menace. Could and should have been so much better.

It's very easy to be dismissive of Joey Barton but this biography, narrated excellently by the author, reveals a complex, erudite, reflective and brutally honest man who takes you on a journey of self-discovery. I would encourage everyone to listen with an open mind. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone....

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

A brilliant book almost rendered insufferable by Roy Dotrice's bumbling over acted storytelling. Like a parady of an old-school English 'luvvie'.
