Top tip - listen to the dates at the start of each chapter to help orientate
Plot didn’t quite work for me. Interesting idea but not really executed confidently and too may coincidences (especially with character linkages) that were conveniently part of the intended story so felt a bit lazy.
Exciting action towards the end but then limp ending.
Narrator had odd clipped
intonation

Really enjoyable but a bit toooo long

Interesting story right from the start, complex well developed characters with whom we build empathy, very descriptive, good conclusion, but sometimes it was just too long. Particularly the period in Vegas. A little editing could have maintained pace and interest.
Highly recommended to those who are patient.

Really enjoyed this plot twister.
Builds on the concept of the first but I enjoyed it much more and couldn’t stop listening.

Lots of great descriptions of the locations that really set the mood.
Not my usual genre so can’t compare but I definitely recommend.

Nice and easy listen, good performance and good plot which doesn’t quite go the way you expect.
Not too complex, interesting set of characters and not too many make this perfect for an audiobook
Kept me gripped and listening

Even better than the first book and managed to keep mum, dad and boys aged 11 and 13 hooked. Good to read together.

I like Margaret Atwood’s dystopian tales and therefore enjoyed this one.
Very well told, some really exciting and gripping moments.

I picked this novel up having spent time in Japan expecting a predictable cliched view of Japanese history and war and thought it might be a bit dated. What I found was a very well researched and clever historic novel with strong characters and enough twists and turns to keep the reader engaged throughout. It skilfully intertwined the differences between East and Western cultures and religions including touching upon early trading history in a compelling story.

I'd recommend this to anyone who enjoys historic novels or anyone with an interest in Japanese history and culture.

The narration is excellent and the book is brought to life by Ralph Lister.

Whilst eloquently descriptive and a clever concept, I found it boring. Hours 'wasted' on multiple descriptions of driving a car..... As the story developed it became a little too far fetched. Last part of the story was the most interesting but I think on balance I wished I'd not persevered to the end.
