Most organizations and individuals work in the context of annual goals and plans; a 12-month execution cycle. Instead, The 12 Week Year avoids the pitfalls and low productivity of annualized thinking. This book redefines your "year" to be 12 weeks long. In 12 weeks, there just isn't enough time to get complacent, and urgency increases and intensifies. The 12 Week Year creates focus and clarity on what matters most and a sense of urgency to do it now.

I liked how they showed the idea that it was just a plan designed by the president and his cronies to increase publicity, but the plan went wrong, resulting in an idiot president who doesn’t know what he is doing, because he never intended to win in the first place. The negatives of this book I would say pertains to the sensationalist writing style, and lack of solid references for many of the quotations and incidents in this book. Wolff highlights incredibly well just what exactly is wrong with this presidency.

In this acclaimed investigation, Owen Jones explores how the working class has gone from 'salt of the earth' to 'scum of the earth.' Exposing the ignorance and prejudice at the heart of the chav caricature, he portrays a far more complex reality. The chav stereotype, he argues, is used by governments as a convenient fig leaf to avoid genuine engagement with social and economic problems and to justify widening inequality.

An interesting perspective on the way the working class are viewed by the wider society, and how this perception came to being. However, wish the narrator didn’t voice the accents of the people quoted in this book, it detracted from the subject at hand and was annoying. This book could have been summarised better as it was repetitive at times. Overall, some great subject matter that needs to be talked about more.
