For Kim Woodburn, finding fame in her 60s in the smash-hit television series How Clean is Your House? with fellow dust-buster Aggie Mackenzie is like living a fairytale. Often, however, she has simply wished that she had never been born, for Kim has overcome horrific emotional and physical abuse, both at the hands of her alcoholic mother and her philandering, abusive father.

Would you consider the audio edition of Unbeaten to be better than the print version?

I found Kim's voice a little hard on the ears, but I'm pleased I listened to, rather than read the book.

What did you like best about this story?

How Kim was able to get back up, dust herself off and deal with everything she had thrown at her.

What about Kim Woodburn’s performance did you like?

A great deal of emotion was in her performance.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Having a world of love from my mum, I was heartbroken to hear how cruel and wicked her mum was. Her family was cold and chose to turn a blind eye on so many things. I was moved to tears when Kim spoke of her baby, you could hear the emotion in her voice.

When Monty Don's golden retriever, Nigel, became the surprise star of BBC's Gardeners' World, inspiring huge interest, fan mail and even his own social media accounts, Monty Don wanted to explore what makes us connect with animals quite so deeply. In many respects Nigel is a very ordinary dog - charming, handsome and obedient, as so many are. He is also a much loved family pet. He is also a star. By telling Nigel's story, Monty relates his relationships with other special dogs in his life in a memoir of his dogs past and very much present.

Each dogs character was described so well and I enjoyed each.

Have you listened to any of Monty Don’s other performances? How does this one compare?

Not yet. But I will, I enjoyed listening to Monty Don's stories in this book. He has a very soothing voice.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The wonderful stories of each dog was described so well, I laughed and cried. My tears fell freely for 'Red'

Any additional comments?

Beautifully written and a joy to listen too. A great deal of love and emotion went into creating this book.

I was intrigued with both of the stories that played out. It didn't take long to become accustomed to the characters. Perhaps they should have chosen another narrator for the American accent though, but it didn't spoil the story. There were tears, laughter and smiles along with a few frowns, disgust and disappointment. Such an endearing story, it is grouped with my favourites. A must read.

I was so engrossed in this story line. The narrators bought it to life and it was well mapped out, there was no confusion whose story was being told. It had moments of being quite creepy, which was a necessary for the story. I literally got lost in the book and thoroughly enjoyed it. I am looking forward to watching the film, I just hope it can do Paula Hawkins justice.

I would have preferred Cameron to be the narrator throughout the book. The main narrator did not have a voice I enjoyed listening too. There were some interesting points, but some of the chapters were hard going.
