I don't usually listen to biography's but was interested by the story behind Dustin Lance Black.
This was money well spent. This is a story of the forging of a Man of honour and the love story between him and his amazing mother. How they overcome the differences between them and find a way to continue to love and respect each other.

The author is a brilliant story teller and as he reads the story himself you get the meaning of the words.
Besides his lovely dulcet tones don't hurt!!

Highly recommended

What did you like most about The Women of Lilac Street?

The characters are well written so you empathise with their situations.

What did you like best about this story?

That it lead you through the story to a proper conclusion with characters that you cared what happened to them. But even the 'bad' character's have redeeming features so that you care what happens to them

Which scene did you most enjoy?

There are too many to choose from. Besides I don't want to spoil the story

Any additional comments?

If you enjoy a gentle people story or are Catherine Cookson fan you will enjoy this book. The story of everyday folk written about an area that the author is familiar with so that the ambiance is spot on. Characters with challenges to overcome set in time with a different set of values. Good listen

What made the experience of listening to The Verdict the most enjoyable?

The depth of the story and the way the layers peeled like back like an onion.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Difficult as I liked them all even the rather obnoxious defendant

What three words best describe David Thorpe’s voice?

Melodious , firm and soothing

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Most certainly one that I snuck the earphone in at work as I could not wait for the drive home.

Any additional comments?

Most certainly worth a listen. If you like a nice twisty tale with characters that you like or hate making you want to keep listening. Then this is a good book for you. Not all of the action is in the courtroom there is a good balance between courtroom, chambers, home and visits to shady characters in pubs. With a little bit of breaking the law

I read R F Delderfield as a young woman and had forgotten how much I loved the writing in these books. What a wonderful return with a brilliant just perfect reading. Listened through this book in one weekend. If you like family sagas you will love these books. Just make sure you listen to both of them.
