I enjoyed this more than any other in the series. All May’s books are wonderful. They are full of great characters and lyrical descriptions of place and time

It’s a great series. With a lot of twists. The characters backgrounds are well to the fore and they add to the richness of the storytelling. Very violent in places

This was an amazing listen. The truly inside story on a career that was both fast but eventually caused physiological harm to this kind man
None of us truly know how it must feel to train for 15 years then participating in 23000 autopsies. To have your knowledge questioned by bombastic ignorant barristers would have led most to lose their cool. But Shepherd didn’t showing a depth of personality that most of us lack. I just want to say thank you Doctor you are amazing

Nice to hear the first of a series I have delved into over the years. Doesn’t really give you much of Pendergast’s background. But I guess we learn a little with each book

Not a bad listen but pretty obvious plot line. Narrator good but really hate how cheery he is when he announces the Chapters. Doesn’t matter how dire the last sentence of the previous chapter. It’s like he’s suddenly reading a children’s book

Past and present weave a sad haunting tale. It’s well read, acted is more the correct word as you could feel every emotion. And in the end? We are left fearing for Ed’s future. So emotive, so spooky, so sad

I have read and listened to many in this series unfortunately out of order but this hasn’t spoilt the pleasure they have given. A real delight of plot and characters
