I purchased this as a replacement for a much loved and worn out tape of same. Geoffrey Palmer read it and was superb. Now, I like George Cole but the man doesn’t do this story justice. It is boring. Very little expression in it. I will continue my search for an audio version of this book that thrills the reader.

I really didn’t think I would like this book after the first chapter but I persevered. It was fascinating, really well written and superbly well read. I would have loved it even better had Boris read it himself. You knew just how much he admired Churchill.
I learned so much from him I didn’t previously know. What a fascinating man Churchill was. I was sorry when it ended.
I will be listening to this book many times. Highly recommend.

I really looked forward to this book. I love Samantha Bond reading anything and it just flowed. At times it was like a list of who, what and when, but I do love Dame Judy and hadn't realised just how much she has actually achieved in her life. I will listen to it again and often because I like to hear books read to me while in the kitchen. I would recommend this book if you are interested in theatre or Dame Judy Dench.

I have this book on tape although it is abridged, just love it. When I listened to the full book I realised just how much had been left out. Admittedly a lot of it was irrelevant but I really enjoy listening to it all I have already listened to it 4 times and know I will listen at least once a month. I would recommend this book if you enjoy Tommy and Tuppence stories, sadly there were only a few of them written.

Bernadette Dunne reads this book very well. Sadly it is not a story but very true. I first read this book 40 years ago and it is lovely to have it read to me. The story is wonderful yet harrowing. Showing true faith in God and seeing His hand in their lives. 40 years ago I thought ...this would never happen again, we wouldn't allow it, yet it brought home just how many Christians are being persecuted today. God's people always being attacked by Satan. It shows us how to live and that God will bring us through everything if we only trust Him. The reader takes us on a journey and makes you feel you are actually there. A definite must read book.

I was in two minds about this book and reader due to previous reviews but bought it anyway. I am so glad I did. The story is wonderful and Maggie Gyllenhaal is in my opinion the best choice of reader. Her voice flowed through the book. I was in every room, every house with each character. It was like standing at the edge of the room listening in.32hrs is nothing for this kind of book. I was devastated when it ended. I will listen to this book many times. My next buy will be War and Peace. Can't wait.
