The underlying story is good, but i just found it too complicated to remember who was who and what was happening. Writing this review now... I realise I couldn't tell anyone about the plot (lucky for some).

I had listened to The Secrets You Hide a few weeks ago and that was really good! So I did have some high expectations when I chose another of the author's books. Maybe I should have done it the other way round as I thought this books was quite average.

A great mystery story with many layers. And even though longer than usual it really doesn't feel like it. This may be one of those books I would listen to again. Excellent narration!

Usually Audible 'picks' are not my choice (not sure who does the selection of books). I found it quite boring and a bit silly. Managed to get 1/3 of the way before giving up.

I am baffled as to why so many 5 stars! It is really a 3 star average detective mystery. One which I am struggling to complete...

Great story. But I did lose the plot sometimes - you do need to concentrate otherwise it gets a bit confusing with all 3 main females very intertwined. (Probably why the spread from 1 - 5stars). Imogen Church can set a dramatic scene like no other narrator. But this was veeeery drawn out and I did have to listen on 1.2 speed. Notwithstanding the above, it's still a good listen.

Yes it is explicit and not for the faint-hearted, BUT it is hilarious. And the story is good; comes together very nicely at the end. Definitely better to listen to this book (than read) as narration is brilliant!

Put time aside, you wont be able to take long to complete listening to this book! One of the best suspense/thriller books I have ever listened to. Don't be put off by the length, the 14hrs goes quickly. I do have to mention a very odd occurrence (about 5 times in the book) where the same sentence is repeated as the one before - I can only assume its the recording that isn't corrected edited (and I can't believe that has not yet been fixed) as its not a mistake an author would make. Probably Emilia Fox's best narration!

And so scary, in that there are probably many around us as delusional as the male character (or some might say ...was he). What a brilliant author, keeping the reader/listener engaged right to the end. I did not want the book to finish - its a very good 5 star read!

I would to buy Shari Lapena books right away, but after this one I will be a little more hesitant. Good 3star/maybe 4.
