Chipper is a very special dog. As part of a top-secret multimillion-dollar experiment to create the ultimate canine spy technology, Chipper's whole life has been spent within the walls of a secret organization known only as The Institute. Chipper is supposed to be more machine than mutt, but something's wrong, and The Institute knows it. He's about to be terminated. Across the state, 12-year-old orphan Jeff Conway is working all hours at his aunt Flo's lakeside cabin business. He misses his parents, his old life, and the dog he had to leave behind.

Only half a book. I was enjoying it, till you get a message saying to be continued. It was only short so no reason to end it in the middle. Good books have a beginning, story, and end. Should be informed that we need to buy this in instalments. Let down!

After having to wait for this the third book for an ending I found it very poor. The story was filled with lots of irrelevant content and the ending was very rushed and unfinished. Linwood has really let his readers down with this one.

Really enjoy Linwood Barkley books... Unfortunately he is dragging this story out too long and not putting an ending in. The long gap between book releases means you've forgotten a lot of the previous story and there was no recap. A novel should have a beginning, middle and end, the promise falls novels unfortunately do not. Still an enjoyable read but wait till there is an ending and read them all together.
