Seven years ago, six-year-old Maisie Earnshaw was found facedown in a duck pond, her body mutilated. Isabel - at age 14, found covered in Maisie's blood - was convicted of murder. As Leah spends time with Isabel, she comes to know her as a young woman with a sweet, gentle nature, someone she could never see as a murderer. Leah begins to suspect members of the Fielding family of framing Isabel as a young girl, and she's not the only one. True crime blogger James Gorden thinks Isabel is innocent, too.

There is another 1985, somewhere in the could-have-been, where the Crimean war still rages, dodos are regenerated in home-cloning kits and everyone is deeply disappointed by the ending of 'Jane Eyre'. In this world there are no jet-liners or computers, but there are policemen who can travel across time, a Welsh republic, a great interest in all things literary - and a woman called Thursday Next. In this utterly original and wonderfully funny first novel, Fforde has created a fiesty, loveable heroine and a plot of such richness and ingenuity that it will take your breath away.

if you're in the mood for puns, the world re-imagined and where fiction is stranger than fact then I can not recommend this series enough. Clever use of puns *perhaps some losing a little impact in spoken version than the book, but none the less you'll soon be visualising them. it's an easy and enjoyable listen and you'll soon want more Thursday Next books.

Any additional comments?

This is a lovely story and it is easy to hear and imagine the inspiration for the TV series, but it has enough uniqueness that you'll be listening, even if to go 'that's not their name, or how they look'. It is a brilliant series of just four books and precedes many other vampire teen tales.

A new family moves in over the road. The new family is acting strange. This new family has some secrets. From the author of Audible's Thriller of the Year, Silent Child, comes another psychological thriller to keep you guessing until the very end. Performed by Sophie McShera, (Daisy Mason, Downton Abbey), enter the world of a family broken by lies, a woman traumatised by a dark past, and a child caught in the crossfire.

This might sound like a criticism but truly isn't meant as such, wish I'd listened before I heard Silent Child, which had more depth. If you enjoyed Silent Child, you'll like this, If you haven't got round to silent Child perhaps hear this first.
