Tressa Middleton made UK history when she became Britain's youngest mum in 2006 aged just 12 years and eight months. Her case provoked shock and outrage - but the truth behind the headlines was far sadder than anyone could ever have imagined. Born into a life of poverty and neglect, Tressa was forced to grow up fast when was she taken into care at just four years old. She was returned to her mother's chaotic world, but by the age of seven, she was being abused by her own brother and at 11 years old she fell pregnant with his child. For years she kept his dark secret in an attempt to hold her family together until the truth threatened to destroy her completely.

The family's worst fears realised when her body was found months later. The years of waiting for the truth, only to learn that the killer, known to the police, lived just yards from where Milly had vanished. The parents subjected to horrific psychological torture at a trial orchestrated by the murderer.

I was absolutely riveted by this book from beginning to end. It was so nice to finally hear from the Dowler family as to what happened from their perspective and I truly hope that no family have to ever suffer as they did through the wrongdoings of the police and the media. A lasting tribute to Millie x

On her deathbed, Kate Greene's only concern was for her two little boys, Reef and Finn, and her loving husband, Singe. She knew she'd be leaving them behind very soon. Over her last few days, Kate created Mum's List. The couple talked and cried together as she wrote her thoughts and wishes down, trying to help the man she loved create the best life for their boys after she was gone. It wasn't the first time Singe and Kate had faced death. Four years earlier, doctors discovered a large lump in baby Reef 's abdomen.

I took a chance on this book when it came up on the recommended book list for me and I'm glad that I did.

It's a really heart warming story about a list that the mum writes for her husband and children after she dies from cancer. It has inspired me to do the same if and when something happens to me so that my children would know what my wishes were for them and a little bit more about me, my likes, dislikes etc...

I think this book is wonderful and could do with another updated and expanded version, as the more guidance you can get with chronic pain the better.

I especially like the meditations at the end of the book and return to them again and again :)

The fifteenth fostering memoir by Cathy Glass. Danny was petrified and clung to me in desperation as I carried him to my car. Trapped in his own dark world, he couldn't understand why his parents no longer loved or wanted him and were sending him away. While Danny's parents have everything they could wish for in material terms, they are unable to care for their only child. This is where Cathy comes in.

On The Power of Vulnerability, Dr. Brown offers an invitation and a promise - that when we dare to drop the armor that protects us from feeling vulnerable, we open ourselves to the experiences that bring purpose and meaning to our lives. Here she dispels the cultural myth that vulnerability is weakness and reveals that it is, in truth, our most accurate measure of courage.
