Between 1796 and 1815, the continent of Europe was held in thrall by one of the most remarkable personalities of modern times, a man whose name was on the lips of every man, woman, and child: Napoleon Bonaparte. Certainly, one would have to go back to the time of Charlemagne to find his equal on the field of battle, in the halls of diplomacy, or in the courts of jurisprudence.

It was a 'quite good' book. The narration was good. Perhaps a little fast at times.
The problem I had from the book was, it was sometimes difficult to follow and I really wanted to hear more detail about some of the events especially The battle of Trafalgar.

Other than that I learned a lot about Napoleon.

This memoir of Partridge was addictively funny and made me laugh out loud many times. Steve Coogan is brilliant as he recreates the character and touches on and expands plot lines from the TV series. He kept it completely in the voice and spirit of the character, genius.

The Flashman books are amazing. Some of the best adventure books ever written in my opinion, but the language is a bit of an eye opener and may not be to some peoples tastes.
The Great Game is an excellent adventure during the Indian uprising of the 19th century. I believe the books by George MacDonald Fraser are historically accurate as he was an historian.
It's so funny listening to Flashy getting cornered into doing things he really doesn't want to do.
The perfect audio book to commute to.

The cocaine industry is worth billions of dollars a year to the drug cartels who spread their evil across Western society, causing incalculable misery, poverty and death. Slowly, gradually, inexorably it is spreading and it is a blight which must be stopped. One man, Paul Devereaux, intellectual, dedicated, utterly ruthless and ex-CIA special ops, is given what seems like an impossible task. At his disposal is anything he wants – men, resources, money. And he will not stop until he has completed his mission.

Well narrated and an excellent story. It's a little different to many books in that it's doesn't hinge on a main character.
It seems very plausible and seems really well researched.
Perfect to listen to on the commute to work.
This book would probably appeal more to men I think, because there's a lot of geeky description of guns, airplanes etc.

I had hoped this book would be gripping with scary bits.
After listening to this book for about two hours I stopped it and preferred to sit in silence on my commute to work.
It seemed like listening to Buffy the Vampire Slayer or a teenage girls adventure.
I tried sticking with it, and I'm sure it gets better but it just wasn't my thing.

A brilliant book! It was perfect to listen to on the way to work and really cheered me up on my dreary commute. Some of the lines had me roaring with laughter.
A warning though, if you're offended by the 'n' word I'd steer clear. Flashman is quite unpleasant but the racist language is meant to be in keeping with those times.
From what I've read the insane events of the Flashman papers are historically accurate.

This was a free first lesson to the coarse. I have no ability with languages but I managed to understand and repeat what was being said by the end of the lesson.
The downside is the long explanation in English at the start, but I'm sure the following lessons won't have that.
I'll buy some more lessons.
