Marc Headley provides an insider's view of life as a member of Scientology's "Sea Organization". Marc worked at Scientology's secret desert compound, which houses all Scientology management, for 15 years. The 500-acre property is located deep in the California desert. The local townspeople were told lectures and films were made there. But is that all that was happening? It is the location of a multi-million-dollar home for L. Ron Hubbard, built two decades after his death. It is the home of Scientology's current leader, David Miscavige.

Loved it. Marcs laid back approach to the Sea Org, what it meant to him as a child and the series of events that put him in a situation that scarred his life for good.
Mark puts no gloss on his time at Gold Base and at times his 'surfer dude' attitude to events going on around him are a refreshing take on previous CoS books I have listened too.
Excellent writing and relaxing narrative.
Good luck to the Headleys and their family and Kudos to Marc's father for never giving up on his son.

Excellent book, drawing the listener into a dark and warped world of the CoS. Harrowing to hear Jenna and her mindset of her future in this world and how the accidental actions of her uncle changed a young girls fight to save the planet into an all out war of minds.
Incredible how a simple thing as a shared surname can create so much pain and distress in the fight for good PR.
Whilst not read by Jenna herself the readers interpretation puts you into the young mind of the writer.

In 1971 Paulette Cooper wrote a scathing book about the Church of Scientology. Desperate to shut the book down, Scientology unleashed on her one of the most sinister personal campaigns the free world has ever known. The onslaught, which lasted years, ruined her life and drove her to the brink of suicide. The story of Paulette's terrifying ordeal is told in full for the first time in The Unbreakable Miss Lovely.

I wanted to listen to this book after watching Leah Remini's aftermath program and I am so glad I did. Hearing the history of the CoS and the side by side chapters of what Paulette Cooper was going through with the details of what the CoS were doing at the same time was a clever twist. It is not only a story, a very detailed story, of Paulette Cooper but also a detailed commentary of the CoS and it's leader.

Loved it.
I was a true Twin Peaks fan back in the 90s and with news of the new series starting 2017 I was excited by the book title.

I loved the fact that not only does it use historic events with names I have come to know from the town of Twin Peaks but it also builds up the history of characters we know and love and their history to the town and one another beyond what we learnt from the TV show.

Excellent to also have Agent Cooper feature.
