London, 1945. A young war widow steps aboard a train in search of a new life. Clutching the key to a mysterious inheritance, Vanessa Kingcourt can no longer resist the pull of the old Farren Theatre - an enchanted place seeped in memories of her actor father. Now owned by troubled former captain Alistair Redenhall, The Farren is in need of a Wardrobe Mistress and a new lease of life. With no experience and no budget for supplies, Vanessa must use her intuition to create beautiful costumes from whatever scraps of silk and thread survived the blitz.

very enjoyable story , lots of twists and turns keep the reader interested and just enough romance and sex for a hopeless romantic like me. The performer was easy to listen to but didn't send one to sleep.

Before Jackie Collins, Candace Bushnell and Lena Dunham, Jacqueline Susann held the world rapt with her tales of the private passions of Hollywood starlets, high-powered industrialists and the jet set. Valley of the Dolls took the world by storm when it was first published 50 years ago. Never had a book been so frank about sex, drugs and show business. It is often cited as the best-selling novel of all time.

A plague has stricken Thebes. The citizens gather outside the palace of their king, Oedipus, asking him to take action. He replies that he has already sent his brother-in-law, Creon, to the oracle at Delphi for divine guidance. One of the greatest works of classical theatre is dramatically brought to life, in this tragic tale of prophecy, plague, murder, mystery and revenge. Audible presents one of the ancient world's greatest imaginations, in this dramatic, exclusive new recording.
