You really get invested in the main characters, and things don’t always turn out as you expect

This may be a series that I resort to reading. The story line was interesting & I would like to see how it developed. However I really struggled with the narrators style. It seemed like 1sentence in 3 was read as if it was accompanied by a drumroll of suspense; speaking up towards the end with a gasp to the tone that increased in pitch This I found extremely annoying and I will avoid books with this narrator in the future

Great story line if you can shut out the "British accent"

Story was ok but it took me a while to tune out the appalling version of a British accent. This spoilt what was otherwise good narration

Not as good as some of her other series

For me combining Aliens with witches, dragons, vampires and werewolves from Earth was a step too far

Plus the story flowed and kept me engaged with likeable characters, though the baddie was no mystery

Good concept reasonably executed

Though myself I prefer the snippets of information and the narration of Bill Bryson's At Home
