I found it initially a bit confusing to follow and so was a bit disengaged, but as it progressed I found I enjoyed it more and more.

i saw the book was new to Audible and didnt have any reviews, so thought I would give it a go and see.
I actually really enjoyed the story. and it raised some interesting ideas about communication and lies, which I've enjoyed mulling over.
well worth a listen.

Pleasant story. Accents are appalling and spoils the experience

I’m so sad to write an unpleasant review, but this has been so difficult to listen too. I don’t know if someone who is not from England would find it as hard, but a lot of the characters are English and the performer was really unable to do those accents well. They all sounded laboured and despite there being a range of different social groups represented, they all sounded like rough cockneys. I adore audio books and am seldom very distracted by specific performances, but this really was very hard work to listen too.

Enjoyed the story greatly. Appreciated the note from the Author at the end to signal that the end is coming, and it does feel like it’s gearing up well for that. The torn romance is very poignant and the “ash” remains a terrifying place. Good characters who I’m interested in following. Although was very sad about the death of one of the characters in this book. Great series and great individual book. Can’t wait for the next one!

I’ve enjoyed the series so far, so would recommend the earlier books. This one feels laboured and I’ve actually stopped without finishing it. The interesting new character Finn doesn’t get enough attention and the romance between Silver and Logan feels flat and dragging on without humour or fun. All a bit dull this time. Sorry! I hate writing poor reviews, but it’s not as good as the previous ones (in my opinion).

The series is wonderful and I love the joyous nature of them. The reading has a stilted and at times robotic element to it, although this one was better than some of the previous ones. If you can get past the narration, the story was light and easy and pleasant.

I've now listened to the first 5 books and while I love the storyline, which keeps me coming back again, the narration throughout the series is very odd.
I don't know if it has been edited badly or what the issue is, but it has a very computerised and stilted feel. I had it playing on my car sound system when a friend got into my car. By the time I turned it off, my friend thought that it was being read by a computer programme and it does have that feel. It's a shame because the series is really fun.
