I really enjoyed this rich book though was frustrated with the ending and would have liked to have heard what finally drove Sister Brigette to give up her vocation. I also feel the introduction would have been better as the ending because the ending was left hanging! I had to go back to the introduction to remind myself of her life after the convent. The intro was all too brief for me, though I guess the main purpose of the book was highlighting her time as a nun.

I liked the way the narrator told the story - with great humour in places. What a tough time the Sister had during her five years at the convent but she used it to grow and never lost faith in God.

I was very angry at times at the way she was treated by some of the not so nice Sisters. Her friendship with Sister David was very touching.

I would really recommend this book - I couldn't stop listening to it!

Coventry, 1939. Days before the outbreak of World War II, a terrorist bomb explodes on a busy street, killing and maiming innocent civilians. A man is hanged on the evidence given by a young witness. As time goes on, the witness doubts her recollection of events, but her testimony has already had far-reaching consequences. Over sixty years later, in the wake of the 7/7 London bombings, Sara returns to her childhood home to find that her sister, Polly, missing for more than ten years, has finally come back too.

I thoroughly enjoyed this audio book. It kept me gripped from beginning to end. So many unexpected twists and turns - absolutely brilliant and wonderfully narrated too.

A gifted storyteller and spiritual director, Father James Martin, SJ, invites readers to experience the stories of the Gospels in a completely new, vivid, and exciting way to gain a deeper understanding of Jesus. Moving sequentially through the Gospels, considering not only familiar passages but also the "hidden life" of Jesus, the book offers a bold retelling of the life of Christ, faithful to the Christian tradition, while meditating on parts of the narrative that have often escaped notice.

This is a brilliant book, read by the author James Martin with passion, enthusiasm and humour. He brought Jesus alive in a new way for me and I found myself experiencing everything he spoke about on his trip to the Holy Land. I listen again and again to chapters and never get bored! James has really helped me to see Jesus in a new way, I highly recommend this wonderful book!
