The Golden State Killer. The East Area Rapist. The Original Night Stalker. The Visalia Ransacker.

The monster who preyed on Californians from 1975 to 1986 was known by many aliases. And while numerous police sketches tried to capture his often-masked visage, the Golden State Killer spent more than 40 years not only faceless, but nameless.

Hilarious, horrifying and heartbreaking, this diary is everything you wanted to know - and more than a few things you didn't - about life on and off the hospital ward.

I chose to listen to this book, because of the many excellent reviews it had already received & I was not disappointed.
The book is full of very humorous anecdotes, feel-good stories & events that, quite frankly, had me in tears.
I like to think that I have an understanding of what our wonderful NHS staff go through & what they all do for us, on a daily basis, but this book opened my eyes to how incredibly dedicated, hard working & under appreciated our health care assistants, nurses & doctors are.
If you want to understand just how much goes into keeping us alive, at some of our worst points in life, please listen to or read this book.

We were prepared for an earthquake. We had a flood plan in place. We could even have dealt with zombies. Probably. But no one expected the end to be quite so…sticky…or strawberry scented. Yahtzee Croshaw ( Mogworld, Zero Punctuation Reviews) returns to audiobooks with a follow-up to his smash-hit debut: Jam, a dark comedy about the one apocalypse no one predicted.

There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

I came across this trilogy of books & an very pleased that I did. The plot has twists & turns, to keep things exciting & the main characters are easy to like.
It is a thought provoking tale, that examines how easily civilisation can break down & how different people react to it.
The narration was beautifully done. I will be looking out for other work by Lou Cadle & books narrated by Lauren Fortgang.
