Morag Fleming, the Countess of Murr, had been bride to the most lecherous lord in Scotland - yet the ravishingly lovely girl had never been touched. So it was that Morag had never borne a child - yet as a young widow, she arrived in London with a fine son in tow. Her background had left her ignorant of the follies and fopperies of fashion - yet soon all of society was at her feet.

Had read the book some years ago, but kept very little memory of it. The diction of Mrs McKay is pleasant and she does a great performance at rendering most characters. Shall look for more books read by her.

The narrator has a very pleasant voice, and the adult I am mostly enjoyed listening to her. I do wish though that, without losing its value, she had made Little Lord Fauntleroy's voice more childlike, but again her narrating him was above average. Quite satisfied I shall be looking for other books read by her. Narrators make us love, at least enjoy some books. Others are repellent. Here is an example of a voice that makes for a pleasurable journey!

Twice Claire has used an ancient stone circle to travel back to the 18th century. The first time she found love with a Scottish warrior but had to return to the 1940s to save their unborn child. The second time, 20 years later, she reunited with her lost love but had to leave behind the daughter that he would never see. Now Brianna, from her 1960s vantage point, has found a disturbing obituary and will risk everything in an attempt to change history.

I don't quite now why but I keep on rereading this particular book with the same pleasure.
As the only character on film I am not fond of is Brianna, I actually dread to see how she will perform next season on Amazon, but like most fans I cannot wait to see what the film version will have made of that great book 4.

The rigors and dangers of battle are actually a welcome respite for Lord John and his brother Hal, who feel the constant strain of their family's troubled history. Blending war, family secrets, and forbidden love, Gabaldon crafts a suspenseful novel that loyal fans and newcomers alike with find irresistible.

The story drags and is confusing at times, but has its funny moments; the cousin being helped giving birth in the church by the two gay stepbrothers during the wedding of their respective parents,, for instance. On the whole, the performance of the narrator for the voices of Lord John and his brother Hal are commendable, but passages with Jamie Fraser are causes for great unhappiness.
Actually the comments of others made me decide to opt out of the Lord John Series in audio forms even though I simply love audiobooks.
I suppose it can't be helped and there isn't enough readership to have a new narrator for the Lord John series. I'll stick to the books.

Hugh Fraser is a man of many talents. He will probably be best known to you as an actor; he played Captin Hastings to David Suchet’s Poirot on over forty occasions. But he’s also been a musician and a composer and now, having narrated over 90 Agatha Christie audiobooks, he’s writing his own crime fiction. Hugh visits the Audible Studios to discuss his crime series, his pedigree as an audiobook narrator, and his time starring in the Inspector Maigret TV adaptations.

Hugh Fraser is a wonderful narrator. I fell under his charm of course in the films with David Suchet and was so pleased to discover the chappie was also doing audible books. I often choose books because of their narrator simply because some of my favourite books end up being killed, or at least my joy is diminished by a narrator. Hence I often choose the narrators of the books I'll be listening next, but not always of course! I downloaded this one solely for the purpose of listening to that delightful voice!

Recently, there had been some strange goings on at Styles St Mary. Evelyn, constant companion to old Mrs Inglethorp, had stormed out of the house muttering something about "a lot of sharks". And with her, something indefinable had gone from the atmosphere. Her presence had spelt security; now the air seemed rife with suspicion and impending evil.

A classic Marple mystery, read by Emilia Fox.In utter disbelief Miss Marple read the letter addressed to her from the recently deceased Mr Rafiel - an acquaintance she had met briefly on her travels.Recognising in Miss Marple a natural flair for justice, Mr Rafiel had left instructions for her to investigate a crime after his death. The only problem was, he had failed to tell her who was involved or where and when the crime had been committed. It was most intriguing.

Another edge-of-the-seat mystery from Miss Marple. One minute, silly Heather Badcock had been gabbling on at her movie idol, the glamorous Marina Gregg. The next, Heather suffered a massive seizure. But for whom was the deadly poison really intended? Marina's frozen expression suggested she had witnessed something horrific. But, while others searched for material evidence, Jane Marple conducted a very different investigation - into human nature.
