Great to catch up with Nell Ingram and both her work and home family.
Loved the ending and can’t wait to hear how that story develops in the next book ( hopefully it will )
Actually I thoroughly enjoyed the middle and the the beginning also !
Faith Hunter has left me wanting more !
Great narration by Khristine Hvam as usual . She is so good you don’t even know she is there !

Very enjoyable and a nicely different

I have to say I am a long time fan of Rachel Caine - from way back and the Weatherwarden series and the Morganville vampire series .
Sooo I had high hopes for this new series . I was not disappointed. It’s a good idea to have a species of leviathan who live in space and who travel with selected humans .
Finished this and gone straight into the next - what bigger praise !

Oh Dear - What a disappointment

Review might contain a few spoilers . I like a ' kick-ass' protagonists. I bought this because according to many reviews the female lead was such a person. What a let down. The main character is the most feared assassin in the land and has spent time in THE worst prison there is in the land . Yet she appears to be so innocent of well , everything . She even takes the offered drink prior to THE big fight at the end of the book ( ""Don't take the drink its probably drugged !!!""")...AND it takes sooooo long to get to this point in the book . Very slow and tedious . Almost gave up but persevered - not sure why as that's a lot of hours I will never get back . I also bought the second book that I am not going to even attempt . its going back The narrator is a bit screechy but she didn't have a lot to work with . Would I buy any of Sarah Maas again ? Nope , no way .

Firstly - Great narrator. I will look for more
books narrated by Peter Forbes . Scottish accent was perfect and he slipped seamlessly and effortlessly into each character.
The story seemed just a bit slow at times as we were taken into the dementing mind of one of the characters but it all moved on to a climax that I had not expected- so all good .
This is book 2 of a trilogy and I think I bought it as a “ deal of the Day “ but I will now go and see what else is available with UK Audible . ( marketing works with me obvs ...)

Stressful- but that’s ok

I bought this as a “ Deal of the Day” and because I had had it in my wish list for a while. I like a book that gets right into the story and this was just so.
Excellently written as are all Rachel Cains books.
Could barely keep listening at the stressy parts ( but I am glad I did )
I enjoyed it so much I have just bought number 2 in this series .
I thought the narrator was a bit “ stiff” when reading the part of the protagonist but I found I forgot about that pretty quickly and the other characters are well read ( forgot about her totally - which is I feel a sign of a good narrator)
Yes I would recommend this as a good use of your credit

This is the first Audible Performance I have listened to . I like that the Geordie accents seem legitimate and from the North East of England
I found it so full of tension in places I could barely listen - but I did !
I can see I am going to have to purchase more DCI Ryan Mysteries , just hope Audible UK have the whole series
