Slightly annoying, poor story and seems lazy in comparison to something like 'after the flood' which had vision.. In one word... Meh

I've listened to so many audio books and radio plays I would need an army of fingers and toes to count them and I can say hands down this is the most extraordinary book, you laugh, cry, sob like a child and yearn for the burgeoning love to flourish, it's whimsical and horrific in equal measure... I'm feeling desolate now that it is over but filled with a restorative love for humanity

I like how the story unfolds, how the pace of it fits perfectly with the storytelling. I also particularly enjoyed the juxtaposition of despising and sympathising with Oliver, how you can understand in the end that he is both completely insane and totally rational, that in many ways he is a product of neglect and a stifling, pompous and self-righteous society

Here is a largely predictable story line that u learn almost nothing from in terms of the human condition or anything... There's a series of lies that have significant impact on life stories but all because of poor communication and 2 incredibly weak characters... They all deserve everything they got

Good yarn, some interesting historical imagery of crecy battle which really brought to life its brutality

It's probably twice as long as it should be, but it is an epic tale about largely vacuous people who don't deserve the easy lives that fate dealt them. However, it's like a warm blanket on a frosty morning... V agreeable

It has an integrity thru being narrated by the author, I learnt plenty about Sandhurst and also learnt that I was right to believe that I'd make a terrible soldier.

I think the narrator's pace and energy suggest character personalities that the text wouldn't if reading

Tim Robbins is a better actor than narrator, compared to others on here he's very hard to engage with
