Bob Dixon is a London copper who is disenchanted with his lot and he moves to Saltburn hoping for an easier life. At first he is treated as an outsider by his new colleagues but after changing his approach and voluntarily going out on the beat with a young rookie policeman, George Higgins, he is soon included in the station banter. His next problem is a little tricker, he is a detective in a town where his skills are just not required! Bob decides to look into the cold case of a missing girl and then the fun really begins. Both Bob and the reader are left wondering what on earth has happened when the past mysteriously changes, or does it? This is a crime story with a supernatural twist and just a little bit of magic.

One man obsessed with power. One woman prepared to sacrifice everything to stop him. One war that changed the world. "World War three lasted 12 days. Twelve days was all it took for mankind to devastate the planet and almost eradicate the human race. No victor emerged from the ashes and billions lost their lives. We survivors lived through the bleakest of winters. A primal existence became the new order, and the little that remained of our humanity hung in the balance..."

Wow, a brilliant read. Not my usual genre and I did not know what to expect but so pleased I took the leap. In the aftermath of world war three Rebecca is married to Eric Dane the charismatic President of the New United States of America. Rebecca uses her position as First Lady to assist the Resistance to overturn her husband, after all she is ideally placed to do so! An ingenious story with unexpected foes and allies. This is Book 1 in the trilogy, I can’t wait for Book 2.

There, he walks to the shore, opens an old book, and begins to read aloud. His wife thinks he's having an affair. Slim thinks he's insane. The truth is more incredible than either could imagine. The Man by the Sea is the sensational debut novel by Jack Benton, a classic story of love, betrayal, murder, and intrigue.

I really enjoyed this story. Slim Hardy is a mess, he’s ex army, suffering from PTSD and an alcoholic. Now working as a private investigator his latest case is doing nothing to improve his mental state. The book is quite spooky in places and had me completely bemused. The perpetrator came as a complete surprise. A really good first book in this new series, I am really looking forward to catching up with Slim in the second book.

The last thing Kaylee wants to do is participate in a childish scavenger hunt - especially inside the abandoned retirement home on the edge of town. When she finds a bruised, deaf boy hiding inside one of the rooms, she vows to lead him to safety - only to discover the front doors are now padlocked, and her friends are nowhere to be found. Kaylee is about to learn that not everything that goes "bump in the night" is imaginary, and sometimes there are worse things to fear than ghosts.

A really enjoyable read. There is a sudden spate of deaths in Kettle Street, are they accidents? The police certainly seem to think so but Greg and Beth do not agree, they are convinced it is series of murders. They investigate whilst dealing with their personal disabilities which are described in a sensitive and thought provoking way. A clever story with an unexpected ending.

An excellent read. You are eased into the story with a gentle introduction to the characters. Kate is the presenter of the tv show “Where the Dead Walk”, Henry is the producer and they along with the other crew and cast of the show feel like friends by the time the supernatural element of the story is introduced. It is a very clever, well thought out storyline with a satisfying ending. This is my first book from this author and I am already looking forward to the next one.
