Harold is a dear and loveable character.
I would have loved to have meet him while he was on his journey - although I felt right from the start of the story I was taking every step with him

Loved the story, the narration & so so many of the characters. I think Raj was a firm favourite of mine.
A fantastic way to teach/remind not only children, but fully grown up 49 year old children like myself that there are many things in life in which we shouldn't be ashamed of & that we live in a diverse world. We need to smile at one another more & be accepting of how different we all are

An atmospheric, moving story and particularly wonderful to read while on holiday in Crete and on a short visit to Spinalonga. Walking around the streets on the island I could see Elani in front of me popping in the bakery.
A lovely introduction to Victoria Hislop's books.
Now to continue with more

I cried so many tears, smiled so many smiles throughout this beautiful story.
Death is nothing to fear after this story for me. If when my time comes, I am treated with such respect by death, then my dying moments will be good.
A truly wonderful and enjoyable story. The film, although lovely, isn't a patch on the book.
Both my daughters have read the hardback version and also enjoyed
