Forty years ago, Harriet Vanger disappeared from a family gathering. Her body was never found, yet her uncle is convinced it was murder - and that the killer is a member of his own family. He employs journalist Mikael Blomkvist and the tattooed, truculent computer hacker Lisbeth Salander to investigate. When the pair link Harriet's disappearance to a number of grotesque murders from forty years ago, they begin to unravel a dark and appalling family history.

I was looking for something new to listen to, and thought why not. I knew nothing about the story and had not seen the film. It was a great book to listen to, a little bit hard when the rape scene was described but I have always sided with Lisbeth and cheered when she got her revenge. I have read up to The Girl who kicked the Hornets Nest and still want more. Brilliant series of stories.

I love all the Jack Reacher book series, but this one felt like it had a fresh story line to how the other books had followed. It still had an air of military back story to it, but the intertwining story was different. It hadn't been covered in any of the books before. It left me puzzled to where the story was heading but in a want more way, not a get on with it way. Well done again to Lee Child for his amazing creation of Jack Reacher and Jeff Harding for bringing him into my home.

Jeff Harding brings Dave Gurney and his co-worker and intolerable friend Jack Hardwick to life more and more as each book goes on. I would love to listen to the next 2 books in the series but I won't be. Jeff Harding must record Wolf Lake and the next book after it. Continuity is very important when you have built up a mental image of all the characters. Jeff Harding is also brilliant with the Jack Reacher book series. He tells the story so you feel like you are in it. A fantastic book that I was sad that I had finished it so quickly.

People are capable of almost anything. Fast-paced and addictive, The Couple Next Door announces a major new talent in thriller writing. You never know what's happening on the other side of the wall. Your neighbour told you that she didn't want your six-month-old daughter at the dinner party. Nothing personal, she just couldn't stand her crying. Your husband said it would be fine. After all, you live only next door. You'll have the baby monitor, and you'll take it in turns to go back every half hour.
