It’s 1990. Johanna Morrigan, 14, has shamed herself so badly on local TV that she decides that there’s no point in being Johanna anymore and reinvents herself as Dolly Wilde - fast-talking, hard-drinking Gothic hero and full-time Lady Sex Adventurer! She will save her poverty stricken Bohemian family by becoming a writer - like Jo in Little Women, or the Brontes - but without the dying young bit. By 16, she’s smoking cigarettes, getting drunk, and working for a music paper.

Where does I Found You rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

One of the best books I've read for a while. The story has been very well thought out. Plot and characters are believable. It's a clever book written by someone who cares about the reader.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Alice. Vunerable, imperfect and lovable!

Which character – as performed by Antonia Beamish – was your favourite?

Antonia was amazing. Her different voices and accents were spot on. Really brought the characters to life.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Had to stop mid chapter on a number of occasions just to get my breath!

Any additional comments?

Lisa Jewell is a master writer. Very few books keep my attention as well as this one. I really cared about the characters and how they would end up. Amazing book with a great ending.

What made the experience of listening to Safe with Me the most enjoyable?

Really liked Lucy narrating. May have been tempted to give up on the book otherwise. Characters and twists are not always convincing.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

It was interesting. And I know a bit more about Royal Mail postal rounds now.

Have you listened to any of Lucy Price-Lewis’s other performances? How does this one compare?

Yes. Blink also by K.L Slater. That's a much more clever and refined book I would say.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Two nutters meet and then everyone else goes bonkers too (except Boris and Albert).

Gripping story. Well narrated,

Who was your favorite character and why?

Helen was my favourite character. She just says what she thinks with no filter. The most honest character in the book.

Have you listened to any of the narrators’s other performances? How does this one compare?

The performance of the three narrator's was first class. The voice of Karen (Caoilfheann Dunne) is worth the money in itself.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Two or three sittings.

Any additional comments?

The book is well written and mostly believable. The circumstances and characters are painted such that you can forgive the less plausible turns (for example Karen's reaction to the letters). Really enjoyed this book and looking forward to the next one.
