Far improved from the first book. far less whinging but still too many Americanisations/ Mistakes for a book supposed to have been set in the UK. why does a US author set a book in the UK when they do not know the UK, do not research the UK, and could have set the book just as easily in the US or a mythical location???

Great idea, but came across as childish and whiny

Great idea but sadly lacking. main character came across as very childish and whiny by the narrator.

It's good, but not amazing.

Books getting better but too many repeated themes

Possible slight spoiler alert. Really enjoy these books, Jill sounds a little more mature but too many repeated themes... Jill not standing up for herself, Detectives who hate PIs, New office tenants who would want Jill out, etc, etc. But the part with Jill and Kathy near the very end is truly brilliant. laugh out loud moment, I was glad I was not on the bus at the time...!!!

An interesting listen but some parts are poor

The author obviously has a complete dislike for modern agriculture, to the point of being offensive. maybe if he actually visited some farms (is he vegan?) he wouldn't assume all farming is as he describes. In fact what he describes would be abnormal in the UK, and in some cases never occurs. For example calves are not reared on their own, in individual pens devoid of other calf company. Dairy cows are not kept inside 24/7/365 nor are they not stood continually in their own urine and excrement. The author is ignorant on farming. I enjoyed most of the book, but the parts on agriculture I found to be almost totally false.

Interesting to listen to, but it's all constant action. It needs some 'padding' so the reader can occasionally relax and enjoy the story. This is just continual fast action over what feels like just a few days. Fine for very young readers who need constant action, but this is a very very dark story at times, which is in my opinion makes it unsuitable to very young readers.

I am enjoying the storyline in the series, but the narrator sadly makes most of the characters sound thick or dim. It's grating to listen to. such a shame.

Firstly, I love his original War of the Worlds narrated musical version... but that hasn't been well merged into this. The music (instrumental only) snippets chosen for this are repetitive and random, particularly in the first half, often with too little spoken audible voice between. The spoken voice is far quieter than the music, so I'd be constantly turning the car volume up and down by 12 or more volume steps. some voices are quieter than others, Carrie's for example I'd have to turn up to the car's maximum just to hear. It could have been a great recording but it's not one I'll listen to again... I'll stick with the narrated musical version i bought nearly 30 years ago instead!

I enjoyed this, however it's not a 5* story as it did drag in a few places. I would listen to it again in the future. I think it good as a Winter or early Spring book. It was however let down by a poor performance. All the female voices were identical. This was made more awkward as each chapter is from the view of a different 'subject, but there was no longer gap or pause between chapters. At the beginning it took me a while to work out the subject had changed, then I'd have to work out who the subject is, rewind, and relisten. Annoying and frustrating when in the car! A quick interim fix would be for Audible to add a longer pause between chapters.
