I enjoyed the start of this story but it gradually became less believable & at the same time, predictable. I became quite bored with the story in the last few chapters. It seemed as though I'd heard all this before.

Disappointing!

Having enjoyed previous episodes of Roy Grace's adventures, I was looking forward to this. Unfortunately, I found that the story dragged so much from the start that I gave up after Chapter 7. Perhaps I'll go back & try again, but not in a hurry!

Ridiculous thought processes going on here.

I enjoyed the start of this story because the characters were likeable & interesting. However, as the tale progressed, I couldn't believe how stupid the reactions & thinking of those same characters could be. My annoyance with the inconsistency of the personalities spoilt the enjoyment of the whole production.

Very good series.

I have read all books in this series & quite enjoyed them. This book, however, had a story that was disjointed &, in parts, not particularly believable. The character of Lottie Parker seems to have morphed into a mardy teenager without any common sense or any of the intelligence & wisdom that it should take to become a DI. I was extremely disappointed & will not bother to look for a Book 8.

As always, Kate Atkinson mixes humour & interesting characters into a believable story. I didn't want this book to end.

Misery, doom & gloom from the start.

After listening to the misery & gloom of the characters & the situation for the first hour, without any hint of things improving, I'm afraid I gave up on this book.

This is a story that captures your heart right from the beginning. I loved the characters & enjoyed the satisfaction of the way things eventually turned out.

I really wish that Patricia Gibney could learn a few new synonyms for the word "said". It becomes extremely annoying listening to a conversation with "he said", "she said" "he said" "she said" repeated so frequently. It distracts from the story, which wasn't that brilliant, anyway
