Okay- this is a rights of passage tale of a boy who loves and wants to breed pidgeons, but ends up saving the world! Its a beautifully constructed book with great character depth and highs and lows and the finale handled really well. My ten year old loved it and recommended it to his class tutor and...Hands up, I'm a fan of Daniel Hill- the narrator, anybody who has just read my other three reviews today will see that- BUT he is reaaly great!

In 1965, Laura, an American illustrator of children's books, committed suicide in Primrose Hill after Benedick's father left her for another woman. Her son can remember nothing about her, but the fairy-tales and their tantalizing illustrations convince him that his own life is in some way echoing hers.

I first heard this as a library loan a couple of years back- it is a dark tale beautifully told (and narrated). Hands up, I'm a fan of Daniel Hill, the narrator, he not only narrates older readers books brilliantly, but his work on children's books is astonishing! His character voices and energy are terrific. he inhabits the world of the book totally and give life to everything he reads. Amanda Craig's book is a must-read\listen.

Charlie and Henry are staying the night at Charlie's house. They've made a deal - but the night doesn't go quite as Charlie plans...

In The Great Escape, Charlie's fed up with his family, so he's decided to run away. But running away means being quiet.

I've just written a review for Daddy Goose Collection narrated by the same actor- Daniel Hill! He is really great and makes the characters jump off the page- with energy and life and builds the story beautifully- you may have guessed I'm a writer too, with KIDS- this is great work and anybody thinking of getting a few minutes peace from them should buy this and any others with Daniel Hill narrating! It was fun for me too!!

Old Mother Goose may know the nursery rhymes, but it's Daddy Goose who knows the stories behind them. This is a funny, affectionate collection of stories, revealing who put Humpty together again, why the cow jumped over the moon, and more.
