I’d read this many years ago, one of my favourite books so I was happy to revisit it on audible. The performance is really good, very reminiscent of RAW himself & conveys the authenticity and character of the text. Even if you’re skeptical of the ideas presented, he is too so there’s still plenty to enjoy. Belief is not the point.

I became aware of Tanner Guzy by means of his appearances & connection to one of my favourite authors Jack Donovan. I have a wedding coming up & I’m aware that I’m a slob when it comes to the way I dress so thought this would be a great opportunity to check out this book. The text itself really shifted my mindset on the subject & left me feeling much better equipped to approach my aesthetic coherently & intentionally. Loads of interesting insights & anecdotes, and given the vastness of the subject I found it succinct, practical & useful. The narration is great too, the guy’s enthusiasm is very apparent as he gives a very animated presentation of his work.

Articulate, bombastic & inspirational.

I’ve read almost all of Jack Donovan’s work in text format up until now. The opportunity to download this came after I’d downloaded the app for another file so rather than order a hard copy I thought I’d go for the audiobook. I was not disappointed at all. The powerful narration of the text makes it a vivid experience that I’m ready to listen to again as soon as I’d finished. In a more complete beast Jack weaves together themes from philosophy, mythology, & his own body of work to address a common mindset trap that men often fall into in the “empire of nothing”. It’s articulate, bombastic & inspirational. Not many writers speak as well as they write, I’d probably always go for the audio version of anything he releases first in the future & a paper copy as back up.

I read this originally in hard copy, and enjoyed it so much that I immediately downloaded the audio version as soon as it was released. BAP’s vivid revelations are dense & captivating such that I’m compelled to return to it over & over. Sometimes I’ll chug some glycine & listen to this as I fall asleep. It’s the modern equivalent of positioning yourself on that high chair at the oracle of Delphi.
