Metres away, the drowned body of another girl is found on an isolated beach. And all this on a small stretch of land where, nearly 10 years ago, the shocking disappearance of a young girl remains an open case.

In her number one NYT best sellers, Brené Brown taught us what it means to dare greatly, rise strong and brave the wilderness. Now, based on new research conducted with leaders, change makers and culture shifters, she’s showing us how to put those ideas into practice so we can step up and lead. Leadership is not about titles, status and power over people. Leaders are people who hold themselves accountable for recognising the potential in people and ideas and developing that potential. This is a book for everyone who is ready to choose courage over comfort, make a difference and lead.

I love Brene's previous work - have gobbled up Power of Vulnerability, Daring Greatly, Gifts of Imperfection - but for those of us seasoned in her work there is little new in here. There is also extensive use of language that doesn't lend itself to an International audience - "rumble" drove me mad!!! In the UK rumble is a noise it is not something you do with a team! Plus other such phrases as "paint done for me" - I get it, but it just doesn't work for me.

I look forward to Brene doing some new research and to her sharing her inspirational insights with us all, rather than rehashing the old stuff under the new guise of Leadership.

Nora and Dora, the 'famous' Chance sisters, prepare to go to their perennially absent father's 100th birthday party. With a wide and colourful, often rather crazy cast, the story veers off in a multitude of directions as Dora's reminiscent narrative slips from past to present suddenly and seamlessly throughout. The illegitimate 'bastard' Chance twins are the black sheep of the family. The all-singing, all-dancing, sweary, aging, make-up caked, high-heeled, bawdy, gritty and overall magnetic Chance twins, that is.

During a culture-shocked exchange year in Japan, 15-year-old Lisa Dempster's imagination is ignited by the story of the henro michi, an arduous 1,200-kilometre Buddhist pilgrimage through the mountains of Japan. Perfectly suiting the romantic view of herself as a dusty, travel-worn explorer (well, one day), she promises to return to Japan and walk the henro michi, one way or another, as soon as humanely possible. Fast-forward 13 years, and Lisa's life is vastly different to what she pictured it would be.

A powerful, blazingly honest memoir: the story of an 1100-mile solo hike that broke down a young woman reeling from catastrophe and built her back up again. At 22, Cheryl Strayed thought she had lost everything. After her mother's death, her family scattered and her own marriage was destroyed. Four years later, with nothing more to lose, she decided to hike the Pacific Crest Trail from the Mojave Desert through California and Oregon to Washington State - alone. She had no experience as a long-distance hiker, and the trail was little more than an idea: vague, outlandish, and full of promise.

Would you listen to Wild again? Why?

Yes - it was a fabulous story that made me cry and laugh. The humility of self discovery and sheer courage were inspirational. Never fails to amaze me how strong a mind can drive forward a broken body.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Wild?

All of it,but her Mum dying and the fear of the near rape on the trail. Plus the box not arriving and having no money

Which character – as performed by Laurel Lefkow – was your favourite?

The narration was superb, I couldn't wait to get in the car and be submerged in the narrative again

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Very much so, it takes one through every emotion along with Cheryl

Where does The Invention of Wings rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Couldn't wait to get in the car to hear the next part of this compelling narrative from Handful and Sarah. Brilliantly narrated. I loved the end notes from the author explaining how much of the book was factual - I too had never heard of the inspirational and courageous Grimke sisters

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Invention of Wings?

Handful's experiences and the loss of her mother

What does Jenna Lamia and Adepero Oduye bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

They were brilliant - I really believed in their characters and found each equally fascinating
