Anyone who has attended a live Sedaris event knows that his diary readings are often among the most joyful parts of the evening. But never before have they been available in print or audio.

I'm a big fan of his work so had high expectations. I found these collections of early diary notes lacking the observational sharpness of his other works. I guess it shows he grew a lot since then but struggle to finish it while I ripped through his others works in one breath.

A pleasure to listen to and thought it was well written, insightful and came across balanced. Would definitely recommend. Given the ongoing turmoil this book might be a future classic. I'm hoping he will wite another one about the aftermath once it's all said and done.

The first nine months of Donald Trump's term were stormy, outrageous - and absolutely mesmerising. Now, thanks to his deep access to the West Wing, best-selling author Michael Wolff tells the riveting story of how Trump launched a tenure as volatile and fiery as the man himself. In this explosive audiobook, Wolff provides a wealth of new details about the chaos in the Oval Office.

Obviously the president and their staff are lying all the time so I won't take their word for it when they say this book is untrue (sad state of affairs)

But this book does raise some questions on the access and source of all this knowledge that doesn't become quite clear. I'm some cases it's not clear if the writer was in the room or he heard it from sources.

Having said that, this does give a interesting insight and you will face palm the entire book.

Al Franken, Giant of the Senate is a book about an unlikely campaign that had an even more improbable ending: the closest outcome in history and an unprecedented eight-month recount saga, which is pretty funny in retrospect. It's a book about what happens when the nation's foremost progressive satirist gets a chance to serve in the United States Senate and, defying the low expectations of the pundit class, actually turns out to be good at it.

Dispite recent events (former) Senator Al Franken is a fascinating person and this book gives great insights in life as a Senator and life in Politics. I would not have mind to go in detail a little deeper but not doing that in this book kept it accessible.
