Bringing together six short stories - two of which are previously unpublished - One Last Dram Before Midnight is perfect for fans of Denzil Meyrick. These tales take us from Jim Daley's early days pounding the beat in Glasgow as a young constable to a lighthearted whisky smuggling romp involving Hamish and some ghostly pipers.

The audio on this seemed very quiet. Had to turn it up to full. I prefer a single storyline rather than short stories. Having said that, they were still entertaining.

What disappointed you about A Perfect Spy?

Heavy going... I gave up 8hrs from the end.

Would you be willing to try another book from John le Carré? Why or why not?

Yes, because he is a legend! Maybe I got a bad one..

What does Michael Jayston bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

Great narration... excellent dialects

Building upon this critical work in Good Calories, Bad Calories and presenting fresh evidence for his claim, Taubes now revisits the urgent question of what’s making us fat—and how we can change—in this exciting new book. Persuasive, straightforward, and practical, Why We Get Fat makes Taubes’s crucial argument newly accessible to a wider audience.
