The Moist von Lipwig novels are some of my favorite out of all the discworld novels and this is far from a disappointment, though i do think it falls short of the earlier 2 installments of Mr. von Lipwig. The characters are as good as usual but the whole thing felt a little rushed and maybe lacking a bit of the 'flair' that i associate with the von Lipwig novels.

The narration is as solid as always form Stephen Briggs though for a long time listener to the discworld novels i think I'll always miss Nigel Planer.

Interesting enough story and plenty for the gamers

Having followed Yahtzee for a little while through his game reviews i was quite curious to see how his humor would translate through into a novel. I'm pleased to say that it does, mostly. Yahtzee himself narrates which really does help a lot as I'm not overly sure it would have worked as well had anyone else done so.

All the characters are interesting if nothing else, and the interaction between all the 'mains' is really great and the side characters that pop up are always entertaining.

I think the biggest let down was the story itself. I cant help but feel i might have enjoy the story that could have been, more then the story i got. I don't really want to spoil anything, but i could have quite happy stayed in Act 1 throughout. But alas that wasn't the story he was telling.

My Girlfriend and i are both gamers and really did enjoy the references along the way, but I'm not sure how well that would translate to a non gamer.

Didn't quite live up to expectations

After watching the film one night i thought to myself "wouldn't this be a good idea for a book". so i was excited to see that it was in fact based... loosely on a book! Sadly, this audio book didn't quite live up to my expectations. The story itself is 'ok'. I had hoped for a bit more 'world' building, but that never materialised and kept to a very basic level. admittedly this might be ideal for a younger reader/listener, but for me it was a real disappointment. The final nail on in the coffin however was the narrator.
