From the 11th storey of a Los Angeles high-rise, Nate looks out on the city - the traffic, the trees, and the beach beyond. He breathes deeply. And then he moves one foot off the ledge and into thin air. But before he can jump, gunshots ring out from within the building. A robbery is in progress. And Nate, with nothing to lose but the life he was about to give up, decides to intervene. What happens next plunges Nate into mortal danger…and reunites him with the family he hasn't known for years - a family he will do anything to protect.

There are three things you should know about Elsie. The first is that she's my best friend. The second is that she always knows what to say to make me feel better. And the third...might take a little bit more explaining. Eighty-four-year-old Florence has fallen in her flat. As she waits to be rescued, Florence wonders if a terrible secret from her past is about to come to light; and, if the charming new resident is who he claims to be, why does he look exactly like a man who died 60 years ago?

I laughed out loud at some the things the girls 'Grace & Tilly' said and observed about their neighbours and family. So wise, so knowing and yet so innocent.

A sad but true account about how we label people without really knowing why and unfortunately people do follow others sometimes just like sheep.

Narrator was really good too. A gentle listen that I wanted to go on & on

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes because it made me very much more aware about how some people accidentally, unwittingly become trapped into a living nightmare.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Behind Closed Doors?

When Illena ran off from the back of the truck

Which character – as performed by Lucy Price-Lewis – was your favourite?

The main character whose name changed during the course of the book to Kate. She was totally believable.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Damaged but not totally broken.

Any additional comments?

Not a nice tale but one that is apparently quite prevalent in many, many parts of the world. Horrid.
