I was really looking forward to this book having enjoyed the Eddie Flynn series so much. However, it was disappointing, whilst the story was fairly good in my mind there was one twist too many.
Unfortunately I did not like the narrator, her portrayal of one of the main male characters was very whiney, but the female characters were better.
As an avid listener to Audiobooks I did listen right to the end, but half way through the story I was ready to return the book, I don’t like to be defeated but this one came very close to it. I hope that the authors next offering is more in keeping with his previous books. This story could have been so much more ....

Had been waiting ages for this to be released. I listened to the entire back series in preparation. It was everything I wanted and more. Fabulous narration by Kobna Holbrook-Smith - I just love his voice and his characterisation of the people. You can never replace him with anyone else.....
Bring on the next one 🙂

Good enough, but again a lot of unnecessary bad language used. I am sure that the story could have stood up without so much swearing ... I know the setting and the criminal world is full of it and many people accept it as part of normal life, but while I can accept some, this went too far.
I quite like the characters and would like to hear them develop over time but will be giving it a rest from the language for a while before I tackle the next book in the series by this author.

The number one best-selling detective series from the award-winning Stuart MacBride continues in this second crime thriller. It's summertime in Scotland: the sun is shining, the sky is blue and people are dying.... It's summertime in the Granite City: the sun is shining, the sky is blue and people are dying.... It starts with Rosie Williams, a prostitute, stripped naked and beaten to death down by the docks - the heart of Aberdeen's red light district. For DS Logan McRae, it's a bad start to another bad day.

It took me a long time to complete listening to this book. I did stick with it as I don’t like to give up.
I found the use of offensive language a little over the top and whilst I could understand why it was used, due to the setting and characters in the story, I did find it was too much.
One of the main characters was a little unbelievable and I found the continual reference to ‘sweets’ a little tedious.
The book was okay and the story was just enough.
