The usual gently compelling story with well drawn characters and satisfying storylines marred by a narrator whose grasp on accents varies from poor to dire. Never have so many English men sounded so Australian! The main protagonist is Irish, or English, or a bit Welsh...
The original narrator was much better

I love this series, however, I don’t feel that the change of narrator has done the presentation any favours. Additionally, the storyline did strain credibility somewhat. Not enough to put me off though!

Really good storytelling

What other book might you compare The Nightmare to, and why?

Everything is better read by Sean Barrett. I regularly try books that I would never normally consider if he is the narrator

No.

Any additional comments?

I enjoyed The Hypnotist (the first book in the series) but Sean Barrett lifts the material to a higher plane.
