I loved this book, as I grew up in Trinidad, but unfortunately the narrators accent was not good and he mispronounced several words, including many place names.

Didn't love this..quite interesting but badly written and the attempt at accents by the narrator was excruciating. I felt that the author was expecting us to sympathise with her, but I just didn't feel it.

Gave up!

I really struggled with this book. The whole thing is just so implausible and has a lot if inaccuracies. I really tried to persevere by gave up after 7 hours.

I love Sophie Hannah's books, but this was incredibly tedious. The characters and plot were unbeleivable and I really couldnt finish it - a first.

Couldn't finish it

This is the first audiobook I haven't been able to finish. Having said that it is an easy listen, but I felt that the narrators voice was not suited to the style of the book, which increasingly got on my nerves! I can't exactly put my finger on it, but perhaps it should have been read by someone more contemporary with the characters.Although its not for me, please dont be put off - you may really enjoy it.

In agreement with previous reviews - subject matter is riveting, but why was this read by a woman when written by a man?
