another excellent book by lj Ross. the plots were good, which kept the momentum going, and there was at least one satisfactory ending.
the only annoying thing is the narrator's new castle accent. as soon as he uses it all the men sound identical - like old men, whatever their age, and the same goes for the women's.

I'm not a fan of violence so only just managed to keep going on this. I really loved Max's relationship with his daughter. Guessed a couple of key events in advance. Narrator was good which made the book easier to listen to overall.

this time there was a bit of history, a bit of nature, less romance (has been getting a bit overblow recently), and thank goodness, less mythological ritualism. still a few too many clichés BUT really good story with characters we already know and love, and new ones who we sympathise with and get to like or dislike.
quite nice to have a couple of suspects in mind and be right with one! all performed brilliantly by narrator- using tension at all the right points.
now ready for the next one please.

At first I really resented a play rather than a straight narration. But I got used to it and admit it was well done. However, I'd still rather listen to one, at most two, narrators perform an unabridged version of a good, well written thriller - and be able to combine it with my own imagination.

one of the good things about this story is that you go straight into the situation without hours of preamble which pads out a book. it moved along at a good place keeping the listener's attention. I got through it very quickly!
the chapter titles were helpful as the narration made it difficult to tell who was talking or whose point if view it was .
good all round listening.

only minus was the narrator's slight caricature accents of women and children. otherwise a good performance.
story kept me on tenterhooks but a few twists towards end were predictable.

Brilliantly narrated by Robert Glenister. A bit confusing at the beginning and difficult to get hold of the different characters' relevance for a few chapters. But then all good as usual.
