At the age of 9, Romesh Ranganathan delivered his first ever stand-up set at a Pontin's Holiday Camp talent competition, smashing the only other competitor, a young girl playing the kazoo. The gig went so well that Romesh retired his comic genius for 22 years, hiding behind the guise of a maths teacher, before finally revealing himself again (no, not like that) at the tender age of 31. In 2010, Ranganathan staged his epic comeback gig to an almost silent room, and has since gone on to earn his place as the most in-demand overweight vegan Sri Lankan comedian in Britain.

Excellent listen with Romesh bringing his story to life. Rambles at times but that is the stand up of Romesh and it is very entertaining. He plays well to the audience and this is like several hours of stand up with a few poignant moments chucked in. Not sure if he is fishing for sympathy at times but overall very entertaining and personally, just what I needed for long car drives on my old commute. Well done Romesh - that was sick, man!

Really great story for all the family and created a scary tension in the car on long journeys! Great to pause when needed and discuss issues, and the 'scary' parts are well done and entertaining. Thought provoking for younger tween listeners, and well written for adults too.

A fantastic read that gripped the whole family (girls aged 10,12, and boy aged 13), and my wife and I! Real characters, enthralling story lines threaded together marvellously and after an 8 hour car journey, I had to do a couple of laps round the block to finish the story!

Well read and a real development of James’ story. Slightly more adult, slightly more involved and slightly more complicated.
Brilliant writing and the kids and I wouldn’t want to listen to anyone else read it!

Higson and Parker work really well together. Appealing to young and old alike and make long car journeys a joy.
Best compliment - home after 5 hours in the car and everyone wanted me to do another 20 mins to finish the book!
Well read, well written and well received.
