The prophecy was clear. Upon the death of three kings, the world will be plunged into chaos, and all the cast-out demons of history will return to bring blood and horror to the world. Two of the kings are dead. The third, about to be born, is hunted by the Demon Riders of the Krayakin, Lords of the Undead. All the terrifying forces of evil range against a pregnant queen at bay in a haunted forest. But she is not alone. Three warriors stand with her, the last remnants of the once proud Drenai army.

the more I listen/read of the late great Dave Gemmelll the more I realise just how amazing his work is.

I read everything he ever wrote When I was a young man, strong and in my prime. now a year off fifty I see everything he wrote in a different light. I was Confused, now I am Bison. still strong still young in my heart. life behind me when once before . I hope I fly above the mountains when it's my time.

Listen to the stories. live the legend

it was like someone had gone into my mind and found all the weird things in it

and the connections I saw with the real world were incredible. I literally had to buy a second set of headphones so I didn't have to stop listening to it.

and the answer to the question you put yourself Mr Gaimon is this.

if an immigrant bringing the collective belief system/god of modern Britain with him can't write the book who can?

I would give this book five stars all round but some idiot for got to get a series contract with the narrator ... why not get a tramp to do book three or a mime? not saying the guy on the second book is bad as I am only in chapter one but so far he feels like he can't wait to be done so he can get on and do serious theatre

Time was running out for Garion and his companions in their quest to recover Garion's infant son and heir. If they could not locate the Place Which Is No More, then Zandramas, the Child of Dark, would use Garion's son in a rite that would raise the Dark Prophecy to eternal domination over the universe. Only the Seeress of Kell could reveal the site of that mysterious place, and she could only do that once Garion and Polgara had fulfilled an ancient prophecy in the mountain fastness of the Seers.

I had almost forgotten this series of books which I read thirty years ago when I was a similar age to Garion.
re discovering them has for me been an incredible journey back into my youth, seeing how these things almost shaped the man I was to become. the story is one of loyalty, love and family. of belonging on a cosmic level.
if you haven't read these books do so. and fill your life with love

Yet in one awesome night, the invincible Daroth had vanished from the face of the earth. Gone were their cities, their armies, their terror. The Great Northern Desert was their only legacy. how can someone so obviously talented do such a half arsed job . the narrator burps at one point, and makes so many mistakes during reading the book it makes you wonder if English is his first language.

don't get me wrong quite a good narration in some ways but at times he obviously wasn't reading a story he was just reading a shopping list .

weird
