Jenny Agutter was ideal to narrate, and this novel is why Audible was invented! I lost myself entirely in this gentle yet vivid coming of age tale.

It’s slightly indulgent but Sue tells it well. I really got a feel for who she is and why she does what she does. Her stories are told with humanity and pathos, and are vivid without dumbing down the content or removing necessary detail. I hope she writes more.

Disappointing. This was so full of artistic licence and conjecture it lost me very early on. The narrator is excellent though and saves the product.

A really nicely dramatised version of a classic. Yet I missed the point entirely. I read Philosophy at University and am now wondering was my degree a waste?

Overall, don’t bother.

Very accessible, and read very well and engagingly by the author. A good purchase, and as it’s short stories, devour it in chunks and nibbles.

Starts off well but meanders. It won’t change your life or clear your depression but it’ll pass a few hours telling you what you suspected all along.

This is a tome but it kept me interested and Juliet Stevenson’s narration is perfect. Really enjoyed it, real escapism into a past time.
